I am using the Snake Demo as a base learning tool. Question I have is if I use parts of it, modified bigtime, can I use the code in my game release legally?

Depends on the license the code is released under. I'm too lazy to look it up, but if you look at the licensing for that particular code, you can probably find the answer.

Well I found this, it's the rules the code is under.

    http://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0

So it looks like I can use it, but I have to offer the original source and everything for free...no prob since free games is what I intend to make.

Can I charge for expansion packs if the content is 100% mine? I mean, the engine would be the core and easily made into having access to expansions. So original code= 3/4 mine...1/4 somebodys...100% expansion would be my own creations in terms of media assets.

So if I make money on expansion packs, will I get my hands slapped?

    thanks:)
