From a CSR (Verizon Customer Service Representative):

Kaylen: The reason the phones are so cheap through third party vendors like Best Buy, Wirefly, or Let's Talk is because these vendors have their own contract on top of Verizon's contract. With these third party vendors, if you purchase a phone you can not change your plan within the first 6 months or you would incur a termination charge up to $250. Also if you decide to end your contract early, you would have to pay that third party vendor's termination fee and Verizon termination fee amount as well. Does that help clarify the price difference in the phones?

And if you have a loyalty discount ($30 or $50) or the $100 3g to 4g promotion, those won't be applied.

No information about the double the data though. I don't know if that will be applied either

And if you don't know what i'm talking about, Lets Talk is selling the galaxy nexus for "just $155 when you use the coupon code $75VZN" (Business Insider)

So if I am on a family line and have an upgrade, and I don't plan on upgrading till my contract is over and don't plan on changing my plan at all, this is a good deal?
I also do not have any loyalty discounts since I am not the main line, and I wouldn't be able to make it to a verizon store until Saturday.

I'm not sure this is totally correct information. They usually do charge an extra ETF if you cancel before 6 months or sometimes 4 months. But after that, you're just paying the carrier's ETF. There was a big stink about this when the Nexus One came out. It's no big deal if you plan on keeping the phone for 6 months+. The part about changing your plan is likely completely false. But you can check on their site. They have to tell you those things.

Here's the legal crap from their site. It's actually more lenient than Verizon's ETF policy.

I would be liable to LetsTalk.com, or its assignee, for an equipment subsidy recovery fee of $250 per line ("equipment recovery fee") if the Wireless Service(s) is discontinued prior to 180 days of continuous service. The equipment subsidy recovery fee will not be charged if the equipment is returned and accepted by LetsTalk.com within its Guarantee Policy.

Then I wouldn't worry about it. Take the deal. I don't know whether you will get the double data promotion, pretty sure you can though.

That info isn't totally right either, because it says the 4 gb promotion is only open to existing customers. I've gone thru the checkout procedure for new customers on their site, and the 4 gb promo worked for me. Maybe it's a glitch, but it's been there for at least a week.

As much as I would like this deal, I am not sure if I trust them. You get charged the recovery fee if I port my number after the activation. I would be a new VZW customer and I am not ready to port my number over until I am sure I like the phone and the service.

Eh? Why would they do that? If you're worried, the lines open at 8 central time. Just order it over the phone and ask them.

As long as you're sure your plan won't change even a bit for the next 6 months, it is an awesome deal. I've had business with LetsTalk with my family account, and we've never had to pay the recovery fee.

    This is from their website
Please note that the Equipment Subsidy Recovery Fee is not a penalty but is for liquidated damages LetsTalk.com will incur as a result of such cancellation. These damages may include, but are not limited to loss of compensation and administrative costs associated with the cancellation or changes in Wireless Service(s), Market Changes, Changes in Ownership, Number Ports after activation, and general number changes to Carrier Account.

I'm sure you're misreading that. In the paragraph above that one, it says you will NOT be charged that fee if you maintain service for 6 months. IF you are charged that fee for canceling before you've kept 6 months of service, those are the reasons why they charges those fees. One of the reasons is the cost uncured when they port over your number.

All 3rd party retailers have this same policy. Best Buy does, Amazon does, Wirefly does. I read all of the fine print 2 years ago when I bought a Nexus One. Keep the phone for 6 months and you're free of any 3rd party fees.

I read the paragraph above that. Yes it says if I keep service for 180 days I will not be charged. However it also says that I will be charged if I port my number over after the activation. It sounds like I would need to wait 180 days before I can port my number. I was going to call them and ask but with all the negative comments I am seeing on the internet I have to wonder about their rep's. They could say one thing and then a week later say " you should have read the terms and conditions on the site".

Best Buy has the exact same policies as Verizon Wireless does. There's no contract on top of another contract. I can't speak for Wirefly or Amazon, but I'm a Mobile Manager at Best Buy and I've never heard of such fees or not being able to change your plan. Infact, we tell people if you feel as though you may not need as many minutes, data, etc, to just drop down to the next tier.

Also the double data through Best Buy is automatically applied. You don't have to go to My Verizon and do it yourself.

That's not what it says at all. That paragraph is describing extra costs they incur if you cancel. They're saying IF you cancel and ported your number over after activation, (let's say, after 3 months) it costs them money. Because of this, you get charged the fee. But that's ONLY if you cancel. I mean think about it, how are they gonna charge you a cancellation fee for not canceling? That doesn't make any sense.

If you are hearing negative feedback from them that's one thing, but I am positive that you don't get charged a $250 cancellation fee for porting a number over on the 3rd month of your contract. Buy hey, ask them and tell them to email you a statement saying they won't charge you a cancellation fee for porting a number. Then you got it in writing =)

What a strange (almost) coincidence that they chose $155:

-100 off any 4G phone upgrade
    - 30 loyalty discount/leftover NE2
    - 50 living social voucher
+25 (cost of living social voucher)

$155 (oooh ... creepy) total discounts
$144 price of phone for me tomorrow... so, I win. Yay!

Also, a store like Best Buy, Amazon, Letstalk, etc can only do pure out of contract upgrades. I have a NE2 or something, but I am only eligible for upgrade at a VZW Corporate Store or an Authorized Retailer like HH Gregg.

Do you still get the double data promotion through Lets Talk

Does this deal even exist anymore? I no longer see it on VZW site.

If I buy the phone on LetsTalk and there is a Warranty issue can I bring it in to a Verizon store to take care of the warranty issue or do I have to go through Samsung or LetsTalk?
