    hi,
so i have a LG 2x had it for a while now
    currently using android 2.2.2
    LGP990-V10d

Have people using this phone noticed stock android settings gone missing
    -are they just hidden?
    -have they been removed?
    -can we get them back

the main one i noticed was in the privacy settings
backup my data / restore my data
are both missing... why would LG remove these they are fairly important have they replaced them with something else ?

Yep, they're gone. LG provides a backup app though.

Thanks for the reply. i have seen and used the backup app that's been provided and as handy as it is
my contacts and texts and already backed up to gmail
    as is my calender
    bookmarks ok that's good
    system setting - great

but i was under the impression that the stock backup/restore already did system settings in addition to app data for any apps that actually used the api

Not only have LG removed this app data backup but have just made your backups to the as card so if you loose the phone or as it seems with lots of people the as card stops working your done for.

why do Google/android let the device makers remove something so important...
what other things have been removed
what other core functions have LG HTC Samsung etc removed from core android to help
