Anyone else catch the twitter post by Trident? In that post he simply stated that he was stopping further development for the Ally. Thoughts?

I completely understand why he would want to, most ally users are pretty young and are demanding without thinking before they talk/type. I personally am buying a droid inc today and if trident stops with velocity 1.1 then so do my themes. I may keep my ally and continue to port themes on over, but don't get your hopes up.

Lets all be honest, the ally has been pushed as far as it can go. There is no going up from here. We will never see a fully working asop rom nor gingerbread.

Between Velocity and Frunisher I really don't know what else anyone could or should expect out of their Ally, and it is a old phone so I can hardly say I'm surprised.
I don't know what kind of donations the development teams have gotten for their work but I don't imagination they were up to expectations either.
I think I'm probably keeping my Ally for another year and hope they decide to at least do a maintenance release or two if needed. :)

Oh well. It was coming sooner or later. When the development stops, it stops. It had amazing support the last few months. The developers kept at it until the very end. Since it reached eol, only a few handful of people will own LG Ally this year. So it is reasonable that they might stop development when only a few people will own the device. So i say, thanks to the developers once again, for showing me the potential of my device. I wish you guys luck in your future phones. Have fun. =D.

I too knew it would end sooner rather than later, even if I didn't want it to. The Devs worked their asses off fealing with a slightly crippled phone and third party software. It really is amazing what they've all done. I'm sad to see the end, especially knowing that unless I find a sweet used phone deal I'll be stuck with the Ally until next May.

It is what it is and I'll deal with it. I certainly hope Trident and everyone else goes on to bigger and brighter things. Maybe we'll cross paths with a future device, maybe not.

I think trident was getting to much shit from other people. May not of been from this forum. Cause on twitter it says right after the thing the he was leaving. He said to some random person "Happy now?". I guess it was gonna happen some time.

a lot of people were ungrateful to people who helped, especially to the devs. i would have left too. now all im hoping for is that i get the same phone as one of them... looking at either the thunderbolt or a moto atrix

    +1

also i must be misinformed because i heard that development for the dinc was slowing down lately and would only last a few more months
lastly has anyone had at&t? are they as good as verizon? i really like the look of the moto atrix.

sorry for getting off topic op, ill open a thread in the ally forum.

Me and trident are friends. We both got thunderbolts. (im posting this from mine). This is mainly the reason he has stopped. Not to mention the Allys hardware is pretty limited, as said before there's not much else to do it.

popular mech. did a study of most of the new 4g tech and verizons lte was light years ahead of them all in terms of speed but no where near in the race when it came to coverage. as far as 3g goes i work in the oil field and travel all over and to the middle of well anywhere and nowhere .. at&t guys never have sevice but when they do there data rate smokes mine on verizon. but i have coverage 4 to 10 times more often then they do. i have noticed the sprint guys have fair coverage (still not as good as verizon) and i hear there 4g isnt to bad....

I figured it was just a matter of time but it was fun while it lasted. Besides, I think it would be pretty hard to make the Ally any better with it's current resources.

Sucks to hear but just like everyone else said. The ally is on its last leg. My parents need to switch providers and they are going to verizon so hopefully I end up with a thunderbolt and my mom can have the ally

Hate to be the party pooper, but 1. you'd have to locate the processor, 2. find a compatible one, and 3. build a kernel that contains support for the new processor and old hardware. Not to mention it would have to be compatible with CDMA frequencies. and all that jazz.
