LG Optimus S

I just got the Optimus s from Sprint. Its a great lower level smart phone. But I can't figure out how to silence the email notification. I have gone to menu and selected "silent" as ringtone for email notification, but it still rings. Does anyone have any suggestions.? Thanks.

Have you tried placing the phone in "silent mode"? According the LG Optimus S Basics guide it looks like you get there by pressing Home -> Options -> Settings -> Sound -> Silent Mode.
