I was wondering if anyone knew how I could change the color or theme of the messaging app? Just seems dull to me. I was hoping i could find a way to do it without installing a messaging app.

Good question. I found the stock app so boring and basic that I never looked into it. Why not try gosms or handcent? Those are worth using and customizable.
