I will post a full review in a few days :)

Here is a very basic and to the point rundown some parts are fact some are my opinion.

    FACT:

Call Quality: Clear and loud enough to turn it down at times. A bit hollow (at times) but for call quality on VZW phones I would say 1 Droid X 2 iPhone 3 Revolution

The 3 places are my OPINION

    Battery life: TBD

4G / 3G signal strength Excellent and Phenomenal. 4G so far is always full or minus 1 bar(s) 3G is even better than my iPhone from VZW. Maxed all of the time even without a case.

Speaker Phone: Eh... Not great but definitely not horrible I say for clearness and volume 7.5 out of 10 This being compared to the mother of all speakers on the OG Droid and the Droid X

Display: Well it is not Super Duper AMOLED Plus with a power booster nor is it Retina but I really like it (my opinion) It is bright clear and all around okie dokie!

Phone performance: The phone is pretty darn good. I only noticed a little lag during the initial set up and syncing.

After that....BUTTAH!!! For me the LG UI was YUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tried Go Launcher but it seemed to make the phone lag.

So I went with the tried and true Launcher Pro!

Camera: I will update tonight I haven't tried it yet.

Okay I will answer questions ASAP and I will post more later if you guys and gals are interested

    Forgot one

Bulid Quality: Overall fit and finish is very nice and IMHO way better than the TB. That being said it is a light phone but does not feel as plasticky (is that even a word?) as the Samsung Galaxy line.

Got mine today, so far I am pretty happy with my purchase. The only thing I am disappointed with is that LG split the 14GB of Internal Storage into 1.7GB for apps and the balance for media storage etc. They really should learn to just leave it alone as one big storage bucket.

Display is bright and sharp, UI is quick and very responsive (unlike Samsung TouchWiz) and equal to Sense UI in terms of speed of UI transition.

I had said the phone was light earlier. I would like to change that. It is not light at all but it does not feel like a brick. IMHO it feels just right, meaning it has a substantial feel to it.

A bit heavier than a lot of the phones on the market but the weight lends itself to giving the phone a quality feel, if you get where I am going. LOL

Very fast and smooth phone. General operation was nice. Lots of bloat software. The UI is nice but I could see where I could get tired of it. I could not figure out how to check the boot loader to see if S-off was set. I did not purchase the phone today. I did like it better than the tbolt and the charge, the charge does have a nicer screen. The rev is some where in between the 2 but using an Eris, everything is nicer. I really digged the phone.

My verizon store did not have an x2 out on display. They did have an x that they were rocking for 249.99 which was slow and clunky feeling and staggered bad between screen swipes. It was for sure not the x2.

No 4G in my area till October but 3G was fast and web pages loaded quickly. Way faster than my Eris. I also go more bars on the LG. I really am impressed. Now my only concerns are battery life and development. I need a phone I can have full control of.

So far the Rev is in the race which I have down to Rev, x2 (if I can get my hands on one), and the Inc2 (really nice smooth phone from my tests).

Those who have picked it up, I would love to hear about the camera quality. Thats about the only thing holding me back from this over the Charge. Unfortunately I don't have a digital camera, so this will be my prime means of taking pictures and would like to have pretty decent quality.

Early mini reviews, user responses seem to be positive overall. I'm not too worried about battery as LG generally takes care of power management better than HTC. I don't expect it to be like DX but somewhere between that and Inredible, Evo. If it can get through working daytime with medium-moderate usage, that's sufficient for me.

I will try to post some pics in a bit. The over all quality is decent. IMHO the iPhone 4 produces the best images out of any phone I have used.

That being said I feel the Revolution produces decent images looking not as rich as the iP4 but natural non the less.

I feel the retina display on the iP4 has a lot to due with the pics looking better.

any idea how the pictures compare to the TB or the Charge? I heard the TB are just OK...and the Charge is the best some people have ever seen...

I think people are confusing the picture quality of the charge with the fact that it is a SAMOLED+ screen. Anything is going to be beautiful on that screen good camera or not IMO.

Haven't had time to post pics yet but I feel they are above adequate. The flash may "pale" some pictures but that may be my fault.

I know it doesn't wash them out like the flash on the motorola droid line did.

I see your point..but a lot of review sites are legitimately stating that the camera on the Charge is the best camera they've used. I'm pretty sure they are not confusing it with the screen..which is also the best :)

When I do photo comparisons with cell phones I always try to compare them on my calibrated monitor on my photo editing computer. I can tell you this: The test shots I've downloaded from users and reviewers that have used the Charge are the best photos I've ever looked at from a cellphone. We would see more comparisons if the Charge wasn't using last year's processor, which would thus be selling better.

But according to reports it has the same camera as the SGSII, which is also responsible for some amazing photos.

It has been rooted, the instructions out there are sketchy, i'm trying to work with the guys at rootzwiki.com to get a fix. Once I do, and the site's updated, i'll post up here.

Like I posted on the other thread here, I tried out Revolution today after seeing post about super sensitive, smooth touch response. And he was correct. Revolution was indeed super sensitive, smooth on touch screen very close to iPhone/iPod. I'm very impressed. It's probably as good as any single core phone can possibly be. Overall UI speed and browsing experience felt like dual core phone with everything moving fairly smooth. I'm now nearly 99% set to getting Revolution.

And regarding screen of Revolution, it looks very nice to me at least on par with DX2. Maybe the black contrast is slightly less deeper than DX2, but brightness, rich color, clarity are all looking good. Also I don't see much difference in viewing angle of two phones. The UI on Revolution is actually very close to stock android with light LG skin on it. The app icons on the bottom dock is looking like Samsung TouchWiz, but that's where the similarity to TouchWiz ends. You can easily customize icons on dock. I like the categorized view on app drawer screen. It's very handy for looking at apps. Overall UI operation feels very smooth and snappy, so I don't feel any need to put launcher app like Launcher Pro on this phone.

How are you changing the apps on the dock? haven't figured that one out yet... still fighting windows to get root... the guys that did it, did it in linux.

They'll get it for windows soon. Preliminary indications are very good that this phone will be extremely moddable and ROMable.

meh, gonna keep at it for another little bit. Tried Super One Click but the application crashes as soon as it opens. Windows7x64. I'm impatient, lol, I need Titanium Backup to get my apps back as they didn't auto restore and i don't want to take the time to dl them all again.

Isn't it just matter of dragging icon from app drawer to dock? I saw that in a video.

    Yup, that did it. Thanks!

Having trouble getting root with Windows7. Gonna install Linux Monday.

    Battery life:

Thunderbolt dropped to like 60% after being in standby for two hours (from full charge)
Revo: From full charge, unplugged an put in standby for two hours, 95%
Grabbed it, downloaded about 10 apps from my dropbox (over 3G), installed them all, set up accounts, tested, after 13 minutes, dropped to 88%. Just remember, this is pretty resource and data intensive stuff, so it will drain it a bit. But all in all, seems pretty good. More later.

can you test simultaneousness voice and data over 3g?

  25. stetsonaw

    stetsonaw Well-Known Member

I don't think it's possible, due to the carrier. AT&T is the only one that allows that for 3G. But i'll give it a go when i get a chance, phone is in the car, i'm at work until midnight.

However, this is a capability on 4G.
