I like Liberty's roms, but I'm very happy with GB right now. Will probably wait until they develop a GB rom.

So the question is, if you're rooted with GB, can you backup and then wipe and then go to Liberty? And if so, can you go back to GB after?

Yes you can backup GB if you are rooted, but you can't just wipe, you have to sbf back to 2.3.340 to install Liberty. If you want to go back to GB after trying out Liberty you can do that if you want.

Liberty 1.5 was a staple for me. I absolutely loved that Rom. I'm running GB now, and staying there. Sad that they spent all that time on 2.0 and it won't be nearly as popular with the GB leak. Hopefully they can get working on Liberty 3.0 =p

I think it might be until other roms are available for gb, the few minor issues I've had with gb is enough to make me go back to liberty.

What I really loved in Liberty was that everything was responsive. The contacts list, the dialer, the settings menus, everything was just zippy whereas the Blur dialer and such always lagged for me.

Gingerbread gave me the features of Blur without the lag. So I'll be sticking with GB until such time as there is a Liberty 2.5 with Gingerbread... and then I'll consider switching.

Liberty is a great looking ROM with the toolbox UI being a huge feature that made doing many of the tweaks noob friendly. I'm appreciative of the work that has gone into it. Jrummy has tweeted that he is going to deliver a GB Liberty ROM soon.

GB has not been a life changer for me though there have been many neat things to play around with. I'm gonna stay on it for now since I'm all set up, but I could just as easily enjoy Liberty or Apex on Froyo.

Now here is a question, I posted this the other day when someone also said they needed to SBF to get rid of GB.

When we load these roms were supposed to have always made a backup previously. So theoretically can't I just load my backup of apex 1.41 on 2.3.340 then load liberty 2.

That would be much simpler then SBF, and everyone here who is flashing ROMS should have a nandroid of 2.3.340.

Am I missing something? Why is SBF always advised when this route is much simpler....

NO, NO, NO.... do not try to flash back to your Apex or any other ROM made over the 3.2.340 kernel. This is a different kernel, just like when we upgraded from eclair to froyo (were you on a DX back then?). Remember that, how once you'd taken the 2.2 update you couldn't go back to your 2.1 ROMs? Same thing here, you can't flash one of those older ROMs while on the 2.3.3 kernel or you'll bootloop.

In order to go back to one of those ROMs, or flash Liberty 2.0 you'll have to SBF back to that kernel first. But at least we have the SBF to do that. Back when 2.2 first hit we didn't have the SBF yet. So once you'd taken the update you were stuck there unless you dropped your phone in the toilet and got a replacement phone in the mail. lol

this is awesome for me. I was really thinking about going to GB, but was on the fence about doing it now, or later when some ROMS came out for it. Now, this tells me I should just wait for GB and ROMS and play with a new Liberty.

This thread was a total and complete mess. I had to delete somewhere around 40 posts!

Can we get things back on track now?

    Thanks! :D

How is battery life on 2.0, since 1.5 was a battery killer? Has battery life improved any?

I have had zero problems with battery issues on 1.5 or 2.0 but I do a battery wipe every do often, and my phone is never out of my hands

That is good to hear. For me Liberty 1.0 was good on battery, then I went to 1.5 and the battery life was horrible. I moved to Apex 1.4.0 and it was great for about two weeks then battery life got real bad on it. So, I finally went back to DarkSlide 4.2 and been there ever since and battery life is excellent. Almost afraid to move to anything else DarkSlide is working so good for me.

Is Liberty 2.0 still donate at the moment? If so I may wait a bit.

Thanks in advance for any/all replies.
