I'm so stoked for this release. I'm drooling just thinking about the possibilities for this phone after Motorola opens up development for it.

So I'm new to Android and Cyanogen Mod... what does it really mean? What can I expect when it is released and they get the bugs worked out?

Cyanogenmod has grown into an Android distribution. When the project first started, it was modifications for a very particular set of phones. Now, it's a unique ROM that can be tailored to a wide variety of devices (phones, tablets, mp3 players, etc.).

The CM team has taken the original AOSP source (in every case, the latest version of Android available) and has made subtle, but powerful enhancements and tweaks. So, what you get is the latest version of Android running on your device, with some great features, but retain the original look of Android.

While the CM team has gone to great lengths to allow developers to tailor the source for their device, it still takes a lot of work.
