Location not working

I've noticed since the last update that my city does not show up very often in the weather app... As a matter of fact, when the update was last pushed (about two weeks ago), my location often showed as Rio De Janeiro or someplace in Utah (and I'm in Maryland) + the time would be off (which makes since as it was giving a wrong location).

Since then, my phone only gives me the state I'm located in and certain apps don't seem to pick up on my location at all. Ex. - I was in PA over the weekend and Urban Spoon still was showing me results near my home in Maryland.

Anyone else having this problem? To answer in advance some questions in advance: Yes, I have my location settings turned on (all three - VZW, Standalone GPS, and Google Location), but could not get Urban Spoon to "find" me (I even tried to force it to by choosing "browse near me" but nothin'! Also, even trying all three location services checked, or different combinations of one or two checked, I can't get the phone to show anything other than the state I'm in (no city).

If everyone is experiencing this, I'm sure (or at least hope) they (HTC or Google) are working on a fix... but if not, I'd like to know what else I could do.

    Gettin' frustrated with this phone.

    1. Download the Forums for Android™ app!

  2. Try another app that has to locate you to see if it works maybe? I use one called 'Where"

Are you using WiFi (google or verizon) location service or GPS?

I have the exact same problem (I'm in Minnesota). Sometimes my city pops up. Mostly it'll just say the state though. And if I try to search for it - it doesn't show up at all. It does seem to be pretty good about finding my location when I'm travelling though. This same thing happened with my last phone (Eris Droid) as well.

I've tried tons of things and nothing seems to affect it. It's just random. I almost have to believe it has to do with the Verizon tower or something.

I've found that unless WiFi is on the location is not as reliable or quick even with all other services turned on.

I'm having the same issue with mine. I live in northern Virginia but it says Im in springfield, VA which is like 100 miles away. Now I just got the Dinc2 through a trade so I can't go to verizon about it, but I had this issue on my original Dinc before I got the Dinc2. The original one I had was running 2.2 and it said the same thing that I was in springfield, VA. Its so annoying

I'm in northwestern VA and my location was always correct until last Thursday night. Then, for days it said I was in Springfield, Lorton, Harper's Ferry, etc. I tried everything I could think of to fix it, and basically gave up. Maps worked perfectly with GPS on, so I knew it was something to do with one of the location services. Then, suddenly on Sunday, 12/4 it started working again. Go figure.
