Lock Symbol needs deleting?

How to delete lock symbol that is now on my front of phone? After upgrading to Android 2.1 my phone went nuts aND i WOUND UP LOCKED until i accidentally unlocked it. Now the symbol is on the left side and i can't move the little white beam to open my phone either. Will the3 beam access return once i get a way to delete the lock symbol?
