    For the girlfriend.

Roughly 10" or so. Verizon. High res screen and fast. price is not an object. I want it to be able to run all the normal apps from the play store so would rather stay away from the Kindles and such.

    Suggestions?

I'd say, avoid any brand you've never heard of and avoid Ebay. Those are probably the most important things when chosing a tablet IMO. Have a look at the Google Nexus 10, made by Samsung.

Nexus 10 woukd be perfect but it's wifi only. Need one that works on Verizon 3g or 4g.

That's CDMA/EV-DO and LTE isn't it?. Not sure if any tablet has that built-in, even Chinese ones. I know many Android phones have it. Only thing I can possibly suggest is using it with a Verizon MiFi device, gives you a personal WiFi hotspot wherever you go.

If I had the nexus 10 with carrier support I'd buy it. it's wifi only.
