I am currently using Kitchen Timer as my timer app, but if I have the phone in silent mode it doesn't sound when the time ends.

Was wondering if anyone knows of an app that will still sound when silent, or maybe one that uses the alarm's settings rather than the ringer's.

My device is rooted if that makes a difference.

I'd check out alarm clock plus. it has a 'nap' feature that works in silent mode. it would probably double nicely as a countdown timer.

I tried alarm clock plus, I got lots of force closes and the alarm never actually worked nor the timer.

I ended up with Alarm Clock Xtreme, I got it as a FAOTD at some point. I saw it in my list and gave it a try. It works really well and my favorite part is it has a crescendo feature which starts the alarm really quiet and gets louder. I've always set my alarm at 100% volume and have been surprised that this wakes me within the first couple seconds of starting.

The timer on ACX uses the alarm volume as I wanted.

And since it isn't a system app I'm able to back it up with Titanium Backup with my normal apps, unlike the stock alarms.

You'll need something like Tasker or AutomateIT. Those and other programs change system settings upon certain conditions being met. Some of those conditions are timers. So you could have the silent mode get turned off at a certain time.

As I said in my second post, Alarm Clock Xtreme is doing just what I need it to do. No need for anything else, it even replaced my stock alarms.
