Just curious in general whether you prefer the 2.2.7 beta or the 2.1.6 stable. I would like to flash to one of them, but I've been hearing that the 2.2.7 has alot of bugs and would appreciate some input on which you guys think is better (for now atleast). Thanks.

I have never used any of the 2.1 versions so I can't say much about it. I have used 2.2 beta1, beta3, beta5, beta 5.5, and beta7.

Beta7 seems fairly good to me and I have not experienced any major bugs. It is based on the leaked Froyo ROM so naturally that ROM is not 100%. That being said, the only bugs that I have noticed are; No haptic feedback on the android keyboard, the arrows in the 3g indicator dont light up when sending or receiving data over 3g.

LauncherPro is the only launcher on it (TW has been disabled) so for some reason you cannot install updates of laucherPro.

Over all I have been very happy with using Cog. Up until I flashed it, I was very frustrated with my Captivate. I was ready to get a G2, unlock it, and sell the Capt on ebay. Then this rom came along and I tried it. Its a whole new phone.

If you are going to get into rom swapping and havent done it before. I recommend reading the Cog. FAQ and the threads on it so you have a good understanding of what you are doing before your do it. You could always try the 2.2B7 and if it is too bugg for you, flash down. Or you can flash 2.1 and if you like it and are feeling adventurous, give 2.2 a try. Always make good back ups and have Odin One click and CWM on hand in case something goes awry.

thanks. By the way, how do you use mobile ap on 2.2.7? I have a friend who flashed 2.2.7 and he claims he cannot use mobile ap on it. Also does the native mobile ap work well on 2.2.7 (this is a major point on why I'm planning on flashing cog).

I've used it only once, but it did work. You go to settings> wireless and network> mobile AP> enable it, then go to Mobile AP Settings and set it up as either an open network or WPA2 and give it an SSID, click save and off you go.

I'm still on Beta6, but am happy with the way the phone works now. Only issue is my BT, but since I really don't care for it anyway, big deal.

Right now I'm debating between going with 2.1.6 (the atinms non-beta one) or waiting for cog 2.2.9 beta (after seeing all the new bugs 8 is giving).

I'd really like the opinion of someone who still has cog 2.1.6, and if there are any issues with it.

I've tried 8 and 8.1. I am back to using 7. 8 was too buggy, and 8.1 had a lot of lag and choppiness. 7 feels very smooth to me.

On another note, I have had a hard time using 2.1 since using 2.2. Once you get used to 2.2, it is very hard to go back. But if you aren't sure, I recommend trying both. Only you will know which one you prefer. If you don't like the 2.2, you can always use Odin 1 click to go back to stock 2.1.

Oh, also, mobile AP works on my cog 7.

does anyone have a link to download 2.2 b7? i have flashed to 2.2 b8.1, but each time i have flashed to it (twice), after restarting, i constantly get force close errors on com.android.phone. i have no idea what is causing my phone to do it, but it makes using it impossible and i end up reflashing.

I think you just have to go to download the latest version and then change the number in the link to the release you want.

I'm tempted to try out froyo but at the same time I'm curious how a HSUPA modem would work, and the most stable way to test this is cog 2.1.6...

If anyone here has used one/knows about it, does it make a significant difference?

Did you backup and restore apps with Titanium Backup? If you backup System apps (ie Phone) and then restore them on Cog then you will have issues. Only backup and restore User apps.

I switched from 2.1 (OCLF) to 2.2 beta and I have no problems except froyo is a battery drain but you can buy extra battery at Amazon.com $17 bucks. Make sure you have unlimited data useage from your carrier - having froyo is freaking awesome - flash 10.1 makes your web experience so much better highly recommended. :D

Battery life actually is better for me on 2.2 than it ever was on 2.1. One important thing that has come to light recently is corrupted battery stats if you are flashing to 2.2 with anything other than a full battery. Also, DesignGears has posted many times that flashing with the Sim card in will cause battery issues as well.

Opps I have Beta 7 - no Beta 6 - highly recommended lucky Beta 7.

Thanks info. I flashed Beta 7 simple easy way using Rom Manager. I'm not a fan of Odin - too risky. I'm not going to experiment Beta 8, or Beta 9 for now since there so much bugs. I do have to thank the people who have downloaded Betas after Betas to make Cognition and testing and fixing bugs and improving Cognition and make it what it is but....Honestly for me, Beta 7 is the high point of Cognition 2.2. In addition, I researched online and alot of Froyo users are experiencing battery drain -Droid users etc....extra battery solution to full day of captivate froyo use without charging...thanks Amazon and thanks Samsung for cool removable battery design. (I was Iphone users since day one returned my iphone 4 32 G for Captivate and Im very happy)

Beta 7 everything works - bluetooth, wifi, tethering, flash 10.1(not laggy at all freakin awesome). Same slow GPS but it works.... There is no way ATT will issue an update such as this........Thank you Designgears :D

I have Firefox as one of my browser on my phone - great! Now if Firefox can add flash 10.1 support on their Android version - that would be great! You can only dream of this if you're iphone user....Samsung Captivate Cognition 2.2 Beta 7 makes it a reality!:D
