To begin with, I'm not looking for something like Gmote or some other apps I've seen suggested that require your PC to be up and running with their server app running.

What I've got is an external HDD attached to my router, like NAS, so I can shut down the PC and still have access to the HDD. Using my Droid2's browser, I can get to said hard disk over 3G and download one file at a time, which is very slow and tedious.

What I'd like to find is a media player app I can put on my phone, which looks for the library at, say, a specific password-protected IP address rather than the phone/SD card itself. Has anyone seen/heard of such a thing? Thanks!

I haven't run into anything like this either but would like this also. I would have my collection on an Internet IP so I could access it anywhere!
