    I am terrible with technology,
I had a friend trying to clean up some memory space on my phone and from what I can tell, he hit the "clear data" button in the "contacts storage" app, he said it shoudnt erase the phone numbers-just the facebook and gmaill info. I dont care about the facebook and gmail contacts, but do want the phone numbers back.
Can i recover the lost phone numbers, and what are the steps needed to accomplish this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I would at least double check that your numbers were not synced with gmail. If you open up gmail, click on contacts, then "more actions", and select "restore contacts". You can restore up to 30 days ago.

in your contacts when you enter a number you have the choice to enter as google or the phone. it will be under contact type. there should be a drop down menu with either google or phone. you should always choose google. that way when you buy a new android phone or even just log into google all of your contacts will be saved and imported.

as far as your current predicament, i do not think that you can get them back. next time you should only clear cache and not data.

Just thought of this, is there any chance you have the app "Lookout" installed? I ask because it has a feature that is supposed to back up your contacts also.

And another possibility, when I came from my Samsung Instinct:(, I had my contacts backed up on Sprints site. Have you ever had them backed up anywhere? Even an older phone? You may be able to at least get some or most of your contacts back.

Thanks to all of you that took the time to respond-

I was fortunate enough to have Lookout installed, I logged in and hit the restore button and they all came back.
