lost photos on galaxy tab 10

I inserted thumb drive into the usb adapter for my tablet, pixtures initially loaded then disappeared from both the tablet and the thumb drive. Using recovery software to rescue the thumb drive, anyone know if files can be recovered from the tablet and how I make sure this doesn't happen again?

I'm not sure about the issues you are experiencing...I wonder if the folks in the Galaxy Tab forum have ever seen this and might be able to recommend something:
