Mm, Silverlight, what's that smell? Yes, it's death ? The Register

One wonders what Lovefilm will use next?

I know ITV used to use Silverlight for their online ITV Player site, but then switched to Flash a while back.

I call BS on this though...
    http://blog.lovefilm.com/uncategorized/why-were-switching-from-flash-to-silverlight.html
    "Studios require robust anti-piracy measures

We’ve been asked to make this change by the Studios who provide us with the films in the first place, because they’re insisting – understandably – that we use robust security to protect their films from piracy, and they see the Silverlight software as more secure than Flash.

Simply put: without meeting their requirements, we’d suddenly have next-to-no films to stream online."

AFAIK Amazon has no intention of switching over to Silverlight for their US online movie and video service, and Lovefilm is owned by Amazon. I certainly don't believe that Silverlight is any more secure than Flash.
