Low 3G speeds, speeds widely vary. Post your 3G speeds people!

Why can't you post a pic?

Wrap the image tags around the URL of where you host your image.

Over the years when searching for info on something I've seen some really great thread's "worth" made "worthless" when the pics go bye-bye-

I'm a visual person so I like pics, but persons posting "pics" should add TEXT explaining what the heck was in that pic in their post(s) - so when (not if) pic goes down the post/thread still contains what was referenced in the pic.

Beyond the pics disappearing.. Search engines don't "see" pics... They are searching for TEXT within the posts.

In a nutshell- Post Pics but be sure to add description /data that Pic is conveying.

Dunno why you replied to me. My post explained how that person can post the image from their speed test from speedtest.net.

I'm well aware that images can disappear if the person posting does not keep up with their image hosting account, but to say that search engines do not see images is just wrong. I've been in the web hosting and design business for 10+ years, and I can assure you that they do. :)

If you desire text with an image, then you need to request this of the person posting the image. ;)

PC World Magazine rated Sprint as the slowest 3G carrier in the U. S. I don't think we are getting second class speeds to Sprint customers. I just think Sprint's 3G sucks. I know they are upgrading pretty much everywhere right now, so maybe that will improve soon.

Here are some of my recent results:

6/6/12 5:45pm: p. 598, d. 49k, up 20k

6/6/1212:19pm p. 560ms, d. 474k, up 29k

6/5/12 11:21pm p. 237ms, d.130k, up 33k

6/5/12 9:40pm p.468ms, d. 344k, up 16k

6/5/12 12:23pm p. 116ms, d. 1042k, up 193k

6/5/12 6:24am p. 235ms, d. 941k, up 298k

6/4/12 11:31pm p. 1384ms, d. 37k, up 61k

Well, I can see it's not just me getting slow speeds. It has definitely gotten worse over the last year, which I can only guess is due to over saturation. Probably everyone jumping on the budget carriers like VM, Boost, etc., to try and save some $$ while the economy sucks.

Here are some of my speeds, using Speedtest, and all taken around Bellevue & Redmond which are just east of Seattle, between 10:00AM and 2:00PM, half on 6-10-12 and half on 6-12-12.

Ping/DL/UL

437/19/287
206/594/211
364/168/302
223/100/254
230/421/164
206/451/270
231/55/834
248/17/577
437/134/523
797/360/552

IIRC, last year I was regularly averaging around 750-800 download speed, which was pretty good. Now, it sucks trying to watch a video or having sloooow page loads.

Definitely getting a bit better since I did the ZV9 update. Can even see my phone hitting one of the towers in the Open Signal Maps app whereas before it wouldn't.

Test Date: Jun 13, 2012 9:54:01 am
Connection Type: EvdoA
Server: Aurora, IL
Download: 1669 kbps
Upload: 522 kbps
Ping: 129 ms

Damn I was just in Aurura, IL yesterday, and my 3g would not work AT ALL. I was trying to use Google Navigation to find a bank and got nothing, I even pulled the battery.

I'm in Des Plaines, IL now and I'm getting the following:

dl/ul/ping
153/407/331
150/441/504
152/518/495

I am visiting Central Minnesota near the city of Brainerd, not a small town. I live in the Twin Cities where VM 3G is quite acceptable. Up here about 150 miles north I used a bit of 3G and it was slow but a day later I get nothing but dropped pages or unavailable servers even though I have 6 bars and the 3G arrows are blinking like mad. there must be a problem with the routing infrastructure up here.
