I keep getting messages that my phone is low on memory, and as a result I can't send/receive text messages. Any tips, besides deleting my text messages? I really can't imagine the text messages are enough to clog it up. I don't even have much in the way of downloaded apps.

    Thanks in advance.

Are you rooted? If so move your dalvik to /cache.

Relocate dalvik-cache to free up space

Worked for me on my Ally until I installed Velocity 1.0, which made it easy to do, came default by Velocity 1.1

    Frees up oodles of space!

If you have already done one or both, try moving apps to SD, froyo way. And if you have already done that, then damn, you have a lot of apps on your Ally, try removing some of those apps you don't use anymore.

My Ally is not rooted, most of my apps are on SD & thats only 6 of those, the only ones that arent are the basic google apps that came on the phone (gmail, maps, camera, messaging) and those cant be moved. I have uninstalled all updates being pushed to the verizon & social apps, but that still is leaving minimal space for my messages. This has only been a problem in the last few months. Is there anything else I can safely remove from the phone to free up space?

Mine was not rooted. I ended up taking it to a local Verizon store & they did a hard reset...I think that was the term they used. Basically, I had already saved everything important to my SD card & it was as if they did a fresh reinstall of the O/S. Its working fine now, but they didn't figure out what caused the problem in the first place.

When my Ally is getting low on memory I go to settings and list the apps in size order. I usually find that Facebook's cache needs clearing. That's often enough to get that annoying notification to go away, but when it's not I delete all FB data. Yes, that means I have to log onto FB again but it keeps it going for another few days. (Can't wait until I can get rid of this phone and go back to HTC products!)

    Hope that helps.

I found I had a lot of downloads I needed to clear from the settings on the menu button click on downloads then hold the hold down the key on any down load you wish to delete. I was amazed how many I had. Also u might want to clear the cache and cookies too?
