I am running standard firmware version 2.2.1 kernel version 2.6.32.9

I have a red SD card symbol coming up in the task bar saying:
    Low on space
    Database storage is getting low

I have 1.36 GB of internal phone storage available. Is this low? How do I erase/move things to the SD card to allow for more internal storage?

When I click the warning, it takes me to the Manage Applications tool and allows me to move things around, but I've deleted applications, moved several large ones to the SD card, cleared the cache of multiple applications, deleted my text messages, cleared my call history, etc. which really hasn't helped at all. The internal phone storage available hasn't moved at all...

The biggest thing saved under the internal memory is my contacts storage which has 83.81 MB of data. But what can I really do about that? Sort of pointless to have a phone without contacts.

    Any suggestions?

Sounds like you have plenty of internal free space, but to answer your question, there are free apps that will move programs to your SD card to free up internal storage. I use one named App 2 SD; there are others.
