Hi, I've just started out with my first Android phone.. and its very good so far, yes you have to keep on top of battery usage but I'll cope...

Its just the volume of the handset, its too low to hear in busy conditions.. I've got it set to maximum ?? Anyone know of any hacks or apps that can give the sound output a bit more ooomph...

Anyone?

I would take it back to where you got it from m8, mine is loud enough for people to hear by the side of me.
It sounds like your handset may be a bit iffy if you can't hear it properly.

Thanks anoniemouse, I'm not sure, it might be my hearing that may be a bit faulty maybe lol. But I know there are tweaks on the iPhone that access the core speakers and thus increase the volume level, don't know if there's a similar app for my HTC??

I've found that the ringtone volume, notification volume and alarm volume are all far too low. I'm missing calls and texts all the time and I overslept the other day because the alarm didn't wake me up. I've got the settings on max. Is there any way of increasing the volume because the speakers can obviously handle it. My desire HD was much louder than this

i generally think you guys have faulty handsets...

The desire HD comment makes me lean that way, my one x is definitely louder than my desire HD. The speaker on the desire hd was one of the worst points of the phone, and if you old one is louder than your one x then something is off.

Maybe go into a store and play around with a test one x to compare the sound levels to your own to confirm if yours has issues.

The speakers on the one x are much louder for watching video content or music etc than it was on the desire HD. The problem is with the notification volume. Hence my comment that the speakers can handle it. I don't think it is my handset because I've seen numerous reviews online that have said the notification volume is a problem. I just hope they release a fix soon

I agree, my notification volume is pants. Speaker volume is much better than my Desire HD, I find myself turning down the volume in calls. I think it might just be the ringtones that are on the One X that are low, however I have not tried downloading any ringtones or notification to test this theory. Try the snooze alarm notification. I find that to be extremely LOUD.

Same here, when on a phone call with a little bit of background noise (traffic, music, bar, etc.) I virtually have to crawl into the phone to be able to hear anything. It is REALLY annoying. The ring tone is very low as well. Had the same problem with my Desire and was expecting HTC to have fixed this by now, but unfortunately not :-(.

This is true. The single rear speaker on this HTC One X is really bad. Seems like the thinner they make them the worse the speaker gets. I would rather the phone be 1-2mm thicker and have a better speaker along with a longer lasting battery which could be replaced then taking a thinner phone with a non-replaceable battery with a rear speaker that is there just for looks or bragging rights.

I was at Costco and at a telecom company trying out the phone earlier on today. In neither place was I able to hear anything out of that rear speaker until I literally put the thing to my ear and I have good ears too.

I don't know if you have tried the following menu: setting > sound > volumes

Then there are sliders that allow independent adjustment of volume levels for

1) music, games and other media

2) ringtone and other notifications

3) alarms

Mine's loud as shit. When I'm talking to people on the phone I keep trying to turn the volume down because it's so loud but it won't go any lower.

Mine is pretty quiet as well, I even purchased Volume+ today all the reviews said the app was great but I cannot really tell a difference.
I think after bumping the setting up it made it alittle louder, but not much.
The Voice Nav is extremely quiet. I have to put it to my ear to hear it?

My old HTC Touch Pro 2 Was super loud, I thought this phone was supposed to be loud too? I don't think all of us got defective phones.

I don`t have any volume issues on mine. In call volume is loud and notifications volume is loud enough to hear clearly too. Try changing the notification tone, some are louder than others :D

FWIW, I had the volume issue as well. Could barely hear the speaker and even the headphone jack was much lower than I would have expected. I took it to the AT&T store for exchange because the display was much louder than mine. When I did the factory reset to clear all of my data, the volume suddenly started working normally. I just kept the phone. Not sure what that was about, but the factory reset corrected the issue for me.

HTC are aware of an issue with the volume and have released a software update 1.29 however as far as I am aware its only been released on unbranded phones..

I find the GPS navigation volume to be very low. Everything else is fine

Just used my HOX for GPS yesterday, it was very low, so low in fact you cannot hear the navigation over the sound of the engine and it was no noisy V8 or clattering diesel.

I'm really disappointed. I used the navigation constantly on my Desire.

Is there a way to get the volume louder for the GPS (Google) Navigation

EDIT: I'm on branded T-Mobile, 1.29.110.11

do you know if that fixed the problem? I did not have the low volume until the 1.85 OTA update.

I just noticed today that my volume for my ringtones and notifications are really low. At least HTC is aware of it.

For everyone having low speaker volume....just backup all your data and apps and then do a factory reset. My phone ringtone/notifications are super loud!!!

How is your sat nav though? I don't have a problem with volume anywhere else, but the google navigation is really quiet.

Silly question but what do you use to back everything up?
