I just bought one of these tablets and so far the only thing I dont really like is the sound . The volume is so low I can hardly hear it without holding it up close to my ear. All settings are set to the max as far as volume goes. Music is hard to hear, sound from games and videos is hard to hear and notifications are damn near impossible to hear.
Is this normal for this product ? Do I have a hardware or software problem?

Any help appreciated.

TIA !

Additional info: if I use headphones the sound will blow your eardrums out if on high and even on the lowest volume setting it is still just a little too loud but useable. Any ideas? Bad internal speakers ?
TIA !

Yes, its internal spkr are of that type only. They are made to consume less power.

Thanks for the reply. I will probably keep it and root/mod it just for the experience even if i have to use external speakers or headphones.

Method for sound boost.
- Open the 'Root Explorer' app
- Go into the '/system' folder
- Then go into the '/etc' folder
- Navigate down to the 'init.sh' file
- (Long) Press on it until a menu appears, and then navigate to 'Open in Text Editor' and select it.
- At the bottom of the text, add these 2 lines (type them exactly as they are printed here) :

alsa_amixer sset 'Playback Boost' 2
alsa_amixer sset 'Capture Boost' 3

- Press the Menu button, then press 'Save & Exit'
- Reboot your tablet, enjoy better volume!

Hi I got all the way through to the end of the process you recommend and it told me I was unable to save the changes. Any ideas or recommendations? Many thanks

I registered here to say thank you. I followed your instruction and it worked perfectly. I think people need to be realistic about sound quality and volume from this device but using your advice, I can actually hear it without straining now.

I have the opposite problem on my WM8650. If I listen to anything through headphones, on the lowest sound setting it is unbearably loud. Can I use the above method to make the sound lower? Thanks!

Can I use this method to lower the sound in a tablet? I have the opposite problem where my headphone volume is ridiculously loud on the lowest setting. I can't even listen to things over headphones, no matter what app or website I'm using.
