Root Main version is older....

    I am running a replacement phone, my usb port messed up on old 2.1 ota updated eris.

    I d'loaded PB00IMG.zip, root directory of sd card. Power down, vol down, power on, goes thru cycle, then stops at:

    Main version is older
    Update fail
    Do you want to reboot device?
    <Action> Yes

    read everything I can get a hold of, pulling my hair out....

    please help...

    Your phone has HBOOT v1.49. You can't root this phone (yet). NO ONE knows if or when you'll be able to.

    Some people managed to get an Incredible rooted, but until they get better at it(or even find out if the race condition used to root it is present in the eris) us with OTA 2.1 and Hboot 1.49 from the factory are stuck without root

    i just got my replacement ( blown speaker on old one ) hoping i could root it only to find out that 1.49 can not be rooted
    well i guess i should look at the bright side ... i got a new fone for free , the trackball seems to be brighter and the damn speaker works
