Make a landland phone ring when cell phone has a call?

I think i have read somewhere of a device that would allow a landline phone to ring when your cell phone had a call -- even if you didn't have a landline service. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? My wife often has a call come in when she's in one room and the phone is in another, so she doesn't hear it ring.

Now-a-days I'm sure you can have something fit your needs. I don't know what her situation is or how far away she is from her phone, but when she is home or in her home-office, have your wife sit the ringer on high. Seems easy, but I'm sure she has a reason.

There are mobile phone to home wiring bridges
    like this http://www.amazon.com/GE-21518EC1-Fusion-Bluetooth-Adjunct/dp/B001E2SPZ0

that connect to your mobile with bt and connect with a wire to your house wiring letting you make and receive calls with regular wired phones around the house. I was thinking about getting one of these at one point but I never did anything. I'm not sure how one of these would work if you have an existing active landline though, I've only ever thought about them hooking up to dead wiring.

You could also setup google voice account, give people a google voice # instead of your real # and you can have this ring as many lines as you want at the same time for an incoming call. (You don't need the google voice android app and it's pretty crap IMO)

google voice does this if you want to use a different number for incoming calls

The only reason is that she puts the phone down and doesn't think about keeping it with her. Even on high, she doesn't always hear the ringer if she's not in the room.

That would probably present more complications than we need. I know I've read somewhere about a device that actually rings a normal phone even if it is not connected to a landline. If we could find out what it is, I could keep a couple in the rooms where she normally stays.

Amazon also had a similar item for $35 that got good reviews, so I've ordered that. After it comes, I'll post here the results so anyone else thinking about something similar will know how well it works.

So if I understand this right, I could take my brand new android smartphone, plug it in, turn on the bluetooth, and get rid of the VoIP modem I'm currently using for home phone service?

I only use it when I'm at home on evenings, and don't make any long distance calls, so this would save me thirty bucks a month if true.

I used the search button rather than start a new thread, and I'm glad I did. Has anyone tried this?!

I just connected the device to a cheap landline phone, called my wife's phone, and both her cell phone and the landline phone rang. I answered the call with the landline phone, and it worked perfectly. If I run into any problems, I'll post them here, but right now, this seems to be a perfect solution. And yes, I think you could get rid of your other service.
