We are trying to make really good screencast videos of android applications, but the emulator + eclipse is super-slow, and the on-device screen video capture solutions seem to all be glitchy.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a setup which would give a smooth video where people can really see what the live experience will be?

We can go with a camera set up, but it would be much better to capture direct if its possible.

I'm not aware of anything sorry. There was an app called ShootMe which allowed you to record what your screen was doing, but the dev pulled it from the market as a result of immature comments from a select few who couldn't get it to work properly.

Your best bet is a camera unfortunately.
