MapDroyd

I'm in Salzburg, but from California. I have no cell coverage here, but would like to use my MapDroyd with GPS to track my location and find locations. I'm accessing the internet by Wi-Fi and myMapDroyd only seems to work when I BAC Wi-Fi access, even if I have my GPS turned on. Does anyone knowledge how to activate MapDroyd -- or any other mapping software I could download -- using GPS only?
