"Help me Obi-Wan Kenobi, You're My Only Hope"...

Come on guys. I know there are some pretty smart guys in here. I really don't wanna have to ATTEMPT to use my warranty. But it is looking more and more like I'm gonna have to get a new phone. I cannot for the life of me get the market to download a single application. Every attempt gives an error message.

I did a factory reset, .sbf, factory reset again, wiped cache, checked all settings, called Verizon, (of course I didn't mention root) and then did all of this again. Everything else works fine. Calling is good. Web browser is fine.

I'm stumped, bewildered, beaten, and tired...Anyone?

I had same the same problem. This is what fixed it for me. Go to settings-manage applications-scroll to Market then uninstall updates.

What is this error message. and which ROM is this on. Is it ROM dependent as well? I was having this issue on a fission ROM once and clearing the data for the market fixed it for me, though i wasn't getting an error message only it wasn't installing.

I'm on the stock ROM now. The message states...”Download of [app name] was unsuccessful, please try again.”

I would say do the upgrade to GB and if that doesn't fix your problems then you have done enough on your end to warrant a replacement. Other's have claimed a warranty replacement with much fewer issues than you so don't feel bad about doing it. They will fix yours and give it to someone else. Check the top sticky for the link to the P3 thread for update files.

How big is the .sbf download supposed to be? The one I have is 255MB unzipped. Does this sound right? It only takes me about 10 min. to .sbf. I have heard it takes a long time...

My Wife's D2 had the same issues and it turned out to be a bad SD card. If you have one, swap it out.

That sounds about right. Did the download location/thread give you a md5sum? If so check that against the file you downloaded.

I was like santa clause and fixed your phone last night while you were sleeping. I was disappointed there were no cookies :p

But glad it worked itself out. Do you think you'll give GB a shot?

You did huh? <grin> I guess that's called “going above and beyond” the call of duty. Wow! Thank you and thank you. Did I mention thank you? <laughs>

How about a new phone next time instead of cookies? <smile>

I will most likely give Gingerbread a shot at some point in time. Right now I'm a little “gun shy” as far as my DX is concerned. What's the old expression?...”If it ain't broke, don't fix it.”

And yeah there is that old saying. . . buuut you're not fixing it you're 'improving' it!
