    Hi there,

I just got a new phone, its a chinese branded Elephone P9000, ive had it for a few days now and can't fault it other than the battery life is killing the phone, I don't think a full 24 hours is possible even on low usage!
I decided to do an experiment last night and I charged it fully before I went to bed and also switched the phone on. I left it throughout the entire night with screen off when I woke up about 9 hours later it has done about 55%! I look at the battery stats and it shows that something is keeping the phone awake.
I have attached the images showing this.

A thought I have now that I will try is maybe it is the new doze feature not working correct and i can turn this off on all apps by setting them to 'not optimized'. Do you think this could be something that would work?

This problem is bugging me and it seems a problem with Android Mashmallow as a quick google search on the battery drain issue comes up with many posts with similar issues.

    Any suggestions guys....or gals :),
    James

    Hi

It's not obvious what is causing the wakelock but try :

Turn off mobile data and set wifi to "always on when asleep" in wifi settings and try it again overnight.

    Thanks for replying.
Last night I did the same experiment but with WiFi and mobile data off and found when I woke up about 9 hours later it only went through 1%.

Good. Almost certainly your data connection - maybe just continuously trying to find a good connection. If you set the "always on when asleep", even with the wifi off, it makes the phone use wifi (low power consumption compared to mobile data) in preference to data if anything triggers a data connection.

can you do me a big favor and do the experiment that i did.
first download gsam battery monitor http://www.gsamlabs.com/ and install on your phone...
charge your phone before you go to bed, restart your phone and keep wifi on. leave your phone throughout the whole night and when you wake up check gsam and take a screenshot of the results for me please and post here.
will be very interesting to see what results you get.

also what phone have you got and on what android version

I just started using Aggressive Doze/Greenify. I like the notifications telling me the times it went into doze.

I don't feel any special apps are needed,

I leave DATA always turned OFF. ( unless away from home/WiFi )
I also leave WiFi turned OFF unless I need the internet for some reason.

I have MacroDroid set to always turn off WiFi when the screen is locked.

If the phone cannot see the internet, it should coast along with very minimal battery use.
My Note 4 will typically go 10-12 hours on less than 1% per hour provided the screen is never unlocked.

I access the internet a few times to check email and weather, once in a Blue Moon I will look at a forum, but usually it is turned back off in about 15 minutes.... typical battery use for me is about 40-50 percent left over an 18 hour period.

If I remember, I like to lay it on the Qi charger pad at night so it is on Full Charge when I get up and about.
