This would be awesome. I had just purchased a 32gb microSD card for this phone specifically. I guess I jumped the gun a bit. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I would not put much trust into that tweet. What is the point of having a 16GB and 32GB model if it has an SD slot? No one would buy the 32GB model for the exaggerated price it will have for an additional 16GB.

Makes no difference to me. I will use the cloud if necessary with unlimited data and 4G speeds.

Agrred but doesn't the Xoom come with differing levels of internal memory and have an SD slot?

    NAYSAYER!!!!!!!! :eek::mad::eek::mad::eek: ;):)

Sammy did that with the SGS2 and the devices before that. Europe or At&t in the US would get the models with more flash and VZW would get the lowest versions. Sammy does it since they make more margin on the higher end models, but offer the options (sometimes for differentiation too).

Maybe the slot is inside, but since Google is pushing the cloud, the are not mentioning it...... Anybody pop the Nexus open and look inside?

The Xoom has a microSD slot, but AFAIK, it only came in a 32gb internal memory model. At least that's what mine has and I don't recall having any choices (other than with or without 3G) when I purchased it.

I remember seeing a pic of the Back with the battery door off and only seeing a space for a sim card near the battery : (

    I would. Without hesitation.

I'm still waiting for the phone that can completely replace my ancient iPod Classic, at the same time as being a phone/camera/GPS/internet device/etc. I'm tired of rotating music on/off my phone, I'm tired of lugging the iPod along on vacation to fill the gaps. I really don't like total reliance on cloud solutions; partly because my commute is 98% out of coverage area (on the subway), partly because of data caps, partly because the cloud is useless to me when roaming, and partly because getting my music onto the cloud in the first place is a giant pain in the ass.

Unfortunately flash storage is still at a premium. So for those of us with ridiculous music libraries, a single consolidated device is still pie-in-the-sky stuff and every 8-16GB additional onboard storage counts. And while swappable SD cards go a long, long, long way to toward solving the issue -- heck, that's one of the major reasons I wanted to get off the iPhone, which is why the probably lack of slot on the Nexus is a big disappointment for me -- it's still not ideal having to remove phone backs, batteries and SIM cards to switch out storage versus simply having it all loaded at once.

My iPhone 3GS was too small at 32GB when I got it over 2 years ago, but there wasn't a better solution at the time. Even an Android device with SD slot at 16+32 max wouldn't cut it for me, not even for just my own CD rips (I told you it was a ridiculous!) A 64GB iPhone 4S would go a good way toward covering it, but there's no chance in hell I'm condemning myself to iOS again.

So here I am, desperately waiting for a new Android phone with 32GB onboard + 32GB microSD. (Actually the holy grail would be 64GB onboard and the ability to accept 64GB cards, since we're talking pie-in-the-sky...) Regardless of whether or not there's an SD slot on the Galaxy Nexus, I'll be getting the 32GB version for as much local storage as possible.

That all said, I do take your point. Most people wouldn't get the 32GB version, since 16+16 or 16+32 covers all the storage needs of 90% of the population. It's only those of us music and media junkies who are currently out in the cold and still juggling multiple audio devices. So I agree it's very unlikely they'd make two varieties and include an SD slot. (In fact I was disappointed when I saw the two variants for that reason.)

I would love an sd card slot but not holding my breathe I have so many damn microsd cards it's not even funn and I have 4 32gb ones a few 16gb and countless 8 and 2gb ones ,.. Even though on my TB i have 18gb left on my card I would still spend a little extra and get the 32gb Nexus for a nice total of 64gb I'd forsure put a lot more things on my phone . And with a nice sceen like that I'd have a lot more movies and shows on my phone just for fun

I'd say the twitter person doesn't know the difference between SD and SIM.

All we know about for is the Hong Kong version doesn't have one. We have yet to see ANYTHING about the Verizon version. Am I wrong here?

Incorrect, there was a 16GB Xoom as well, and most honeycomb tablets have those 2 options available, although I think the 32GB ones sell much better (guess people will pay a premium for more internal storage!) so it's hard to find the 16GB ones.

Edit: I might be wrong about the Xoom actually as I don't know if they ever ended up releasing the 16GB version (maybe only on Verizon?), but the Asus Transformer does have a 16GB and 32GB version w/ SD slots.

Yeah, I'm with you. I still rock a 120Gig Zune and don't really store anything on my Droid other than pics and wallpapers. This is in part b/c my music collection is pretty big, and in part b/c I don't want to waste phone battery life on listening to music.

Acer Iconia also has different sizes as well as an SD card slot.

Acer and Thrive also have different models, so high storage and no sd card are not mutually inclusive relationships. Google pushing cloud storage would seem to be the common ground and the Nexus product a test bed for it.

Probably the next Nexus will be 8gb and 16gb, to slowly wean us greedy consumers away from storing our OWN content ;) I might not be joking...

At least iPoo has a 64gb option now.

The problem with that is tiered data plans which are now the norm since Sprint announced they were changing. So IF the GNex has no sd slot and IF Verizon (or your favorite carrier) only gets the 16gb version, then we're really going to have to manage our data usage. Seems kind of weird they eliminated the slot right when carriers are eliminating unlimited data.

Oh, the Asus Transformer comes in 16GB and 32GB models and both have micro-sd slots.

I believe that tweet was referring to the Nexus S. Just says "Samsung Nexus", not "Samsung Galaxy Nexus". Move along, nothing to see here...

I can't see Verizon releasing only the 16gb option with no SD slot . Seems like 32gb storage is the standard . Even the Thunderbolt came with 8 gb on board and 32gb card . I bet they offer just the 32gb model or both at VZW

I'd say they're going for the 32 Gig only! With the 16 it may hurt Razr sales.

    My price point outlook...

    Razr- $299 on contract
    $649 off contract

    Nexus- $399 on contract
    $749 off contract

For the Nexus they will probably follow the 32 gig iphone pricing...

VZW probably will not release a phone that costs over $300 for a two year if they can avoid it, so seems likely the 16gb version is what will land at VZW. Ask a corporate store manager about their feelings towards breaching that pricepoint for phones. Maybe they will offer on line as an option?

If they only offer the 16GB version I may not get this phone. I think it has to be the 32GB version if it will not have an SD slot, and it better not be more than $299.99.

I don't see them doing $399 for this phone that's the same price as the 64gig iPhone . I don't think they'd sell many at $400 with the Razr being $299 and the iphone starting at $199 , I know I probably wouldn't get it at $400 . I have a hard time spending $300 on a phone , I hope they release some information release and pricing information by the end of the month
