I am looking for a media player with built in EQ settings (ala any other MP3 player) that allows me to turn up bass, treble, etc. I bought a pair of Plantronics bluetooth ear buds, great functionality, weak bass. I am currently using Rock On for my media player.

    Thanks.

Haven't been able to find one yet, and I've been looking for a while. I don't think one exists yet. There have been a few threads about this in the past month or two and nobody seems to know of any EQ apps.

Yeah I've been looking and no luck as of yet. I'm really confused as to the reason. It seems like a no-brainer.

I agree, surprised there isnt an app out there considering how the droid is touted as such a media phone.

How about a good Gallery replacement? (besides Gallery 2.1)

EQ is the 2nd most important media feature I think they should work on. How about having more than 7 places to set the volume? Maybe since we have a touchscreen, we can try USING IT!? Give us a touch slider like the iPhone/iPod Touch so I don't have to choose between too quiet and eardrum-exploding.

I for one feel no need for an EQ, but I can understand why people would expect to have one or feel the need for one. I am pretty obsessed with audio and when I plug my Droid into my home theater or car stereo it sounds great for a phone/MP3 player. I also have a decent set of headphones that sound fine when plugged into the Droid.

Hey I agree as well, but its a needed feature. My headphones are cool, my stereo is cool, but when I want to use my wireless BT headset, they are weak. True this isnt a droid issue, but a headset issue, it would still be great if I have the ability to adjust as I see fit.

The one that is currently on the market works, but is not very polished. I tried it with a set of earbuds one day and some of the presets sound ok, but not great. I would expect a good player with a good EQ eventually.

hm. I have some really nice Altec Lansing earbuds that sound amazing with the default EQ using both the Music player and Pandora. Bass response is incredible, very well defined and even. Not too boomy, and all that jazz.

I also have a set of $5 'specials' that sound like crap. But they have a mic built in, so they go in the car.

Anywho, long story short, while I do like to adjust EQ on my music, I find that the default is surprisingly satisfactory. Perhaps the earphones you have don't have good bass response.

(typed while listening to some pretty intense Yes on my droid and loving every note of that Ric Bass)

slider. Is that too much to ask? When I am listening to my HTC HERO at night I like to place it on the pillow next to me and Doze off listening to my favorite talk shows. Problem is that the volume is either too high or off. I have never seen a media player (prior to android) that didn't have an incremental volume control of some sort rather than these large volume jumps on the Android.

you may be right about the bass. I heard that maybe if I jam the plugs deeper into my ear the bass becomes more prevalent, then again, it will be competing with my heart beat and any other "body" sounds as well...

I use Astro Player Beta. It doesn't have presets yet but it has everything described here. It has a nicer interface than the base music player.

Your app looks good so far, Doogie. I've been looking for a media player that does it all, but also has an equalizer.
Basically I want Mixzing with an EQ.
Looking forward to the improvements you make.

I would pay ten bucks for a media player that had these:
    EQ (with playlist memory?)
File Data Editing for MP3 and other files
    Album Art grabber
    Ability to play video
Slide show with audio choice with memory like a play list
...and of course play lists, and the other standard stuff.

Get a really good set of earbuds, Kicker or Bose or even Skull Candy. Play something with the stock player and then play something on Mixzing (free) with the 10 band EQ adjusted and you will hear a 1000% difference in the quality and most importany, the bass response. The only problem I have with MixZing is the free version has annoying ads and the paid version the EQ disappears for some reason. Ive contacted them to find out why. But hands down MixZing is the best out there so far.

Mixzing has started incorporating one but it's not finnished yet. They are still working on getting it to work with some file types.

Try Poweramp free from market. It has 10 band eq with bass and treble control.

Better players are nice, but they don't make Pandora sound any better.
