Memory issue

I keep getting a notification all the time on my status bar and it read "low on space internal phone storage is getting low" there is a red sim card icon before the text. The red sim card icon stays in my status bar until I remove an app, when the red icon is there I cannot receive text messages as it blocks them coming through, it says "Message memory full, incoming rejected. Memory full" . When I go to my task manager it tells me I am using 165mb out of 181mb internal storage, surely that shouldn't be a problem? Even if I download an app that is SD enabled I still get that message/icon.

Can any help or am I doing something wrong? It's really starting to annoy me now.

It's appeared on my phone too. Suddenly I can't receive Email messages, I have a red triangle warning sign next to my windows live hotmail account.

I haven't a clue what's going on so will be watching replies to this thread with interest.

AnnH - Thanks for your reply. Sometimes if I turn my phone on and off it sorts it but now it is doing it all the time. I have stuck to downloading app2sd apps only and I still get that message?????? Explain that. See a previous thread of mine from a while back. The Galaxy Ace is a pathetic phone, I detest it. The biggest regret I have had when it comes to a mobile phone.

i have no idea what the problem really is since im using another model
have you tried deleting all your sm smessages?
how about install an app called 1tap cleaner and use it to clear caches and histories
might free up a bit of space

i have seen that whenever the free space in internal memory goes below 20mb, the phone goes into the 'low memory mode', It won't effect normal usage except for messaging problem.

I'll just suggest everyone to keep there internal memory free space above 20.
