when using my hero if it gets laging i use task killer on killing all programs when on 1.6 version memory was 60 to 92 free i only use task killer app all the time and the normal email text and phone all the time set as cheak net every 15 mins

after the 2.1 update looks good! after a long wait (i wont start that again)
i am on orange so have been using for 5 days but after using task killer now at max only get 30 to 40 freeafter leaving 3 items running

2.1 for me uses more memory - 40M free most of the time - have you installed the update for facebook? It is a memory hog and slows phone and drains battery - go back to old version and things should improve

    cheers

The 2.1 kernel has been heavily reworked and the memory management seems to be quite different. Even my own stripped-down, rebaked and heavily tweaked 2.1 uses more memory than a stock 1.5 did. That said, it also appears more efficient at releasing memory when required by active processes.

Try running it for a few days without using a task killer, either manually or on auto, and see how it compares in use. Ignore the free memory amount and judge by how it 'feels'.
