Just so everyone knows Samsung will release a patch for the 2.2 update..

Right now 2.2 sucks for me, battery life is terrible and web browsing is slow and i get checker boards.. otherwise its fine.
I was thinking about rooting but i dont really know how to..
Do you people think i should wait for the patch to come out before i root or anything? Cause the guy at the UScell store said 2.2 gave some people major problems.. i wish i could just go back to 2.1 but i cant so it ****ing sucks..

Where did you find out about this update patch? Do you have a link? Do you have any other info on it?

Well thanks for not answering any of my ?s.. Two reps talked with me about it, one said there would be an update for the update, the other said there will be a patch, and that samsung and us cell have a big meeting soon discussing the issues .. Btw anyone else have the otter box from us cell.? Mine attracts so much dust and string,/hairs its really annoying I wish they chose a better rubber..

You didn't really ask a question, so you didn't get an answer.

"Should I root before the patch?" Is like asking if you should eat chocolate before the Easter Bunny shows up.

Why base your decision on an unknown/imaginary factor?

The decision to root is based on whether or not you want to take the time to learn how, will you want any additional benefits obtained from rooting, and other things you can potentially gain from rooting.

Zeb was simply asking for a source for your patch/update claims. "A US Cellular rep told me" is as good as saying "A stock broker told me its a good time to buy stocks".

    Lame troll post.

    1/10

You talked to someone at US Cellular but you expect people here to know more about it than they do? Pure genius.

BTW, your mom has an otter box which also seems to attract excessive hair and dust.

All of those links go to pages describing the existing Froyo firmware. None of those are describing an update.

If the store won't give you a phone that hasn't been updated yet, you can download the stock 2.1 from XDA.

Man I hate 2.2. My Mesmerize turned incredibly slow and doesn't always take calls. I found out a couple days ago that my wife had been trying to call me and the phone never rang. I tried calling it from my office and it didn't ring. I took it to US Cellular and got the same "There is a patch that should be coming out any day now" drivel but by reading some of these threads it appears they have been saying that for some time now. It finally got to the point that I was pulling the battery 2-3 times a day. So I went in the last time and wanted 2.1 back and US Cellular says that isn't possible and give me the LG droid phone that has nothing on the Mesmerize. Reading this thread I think I will check out XDA on how to go back to 2.1 so I can have my phone back.

Talk about going from the most popular phone US Cellular sells to turning into a flop after this 2.2 fiasco. I can't wait to get my mesmerize back.

I usually take what store reps say with a grain of salt, so take this for what it's worth...

I had to take my Mez in for service over the weekend. The service rep that worked with me is a friend of mine. He has "no idea" when its coming out, but they've been told by the service managers above them that a revised update for the Mez is in the works. No reason for him to "sunshine" me.
