    does the update cost anything if you go to the store? I've had mine for 9 months now and haven't updated it... lol

    It only costs you the amount of time you have to wait in the store. Which can be pretty expensive in itself, if you go at the wrong time...

    I have noticed improvement not only in length and width but in hardness and stamina as well. I totally recommend this upgrade.

    Yes, definite improvement in signal strength. Not sure about battery life. I'm leaning towards yes, but its not obvious enough for me to say it's a dramatic change.
