"Message not sent: too large"

I am helping somebody...

Using the normal Messages app, She tried to send a GIF file with a Christmas greeting. The file size is 733 KB. But she gets a 'Message not sent: too large' message when sending to particular contacts. It works for some other contacts.

What causes this problem? How to fix it?

I restarted her phone and it works now.

I had to look up the difference... per the definition I read, I think it has to be MMS because it has an attached file.

well mms means multimedia messaging service. so yes any attachment that is pictures and videos including gif's should be sent as mms. sms is text only.
