Help message pending symbols showing on sent messages

[MSG pending symbol error]

http://i.imgur.com/fxp9gXc.jpg My phone is actin up. Its showing me this message pending/not recieved even though my message went through. And sometimes its actually right and the message didnt go through and most of the time its dead wrong. So if anyone can help me figure out why this is happening and how I can stop it. I would be very gratefull.
And heres some info not sure if it helps or not
Phone:LG G3
Carrier: Verizon
Messanging app: Stock android messanger
Android version: 5.1.1

Try clearing cache first. Settings/apps/messenger/clear cache. If that doesn't help use a different app. There are a lot of great ones out there, I use Chomp and really like it. Google Messenger and Textra (same dev as Chomp) are also nice.
