General Metro store says that they aren't selling/making any more esteems

    Thanks Jzebra, I think I'm going to go ahead and do that. I'm just wondering if the warranty will be void if he sells it to me :thinking:

    might want to give metro a call about that one, but i notice if you activate the phone using *228, it ask you if you want insurance but i never buy they insurance anyway.

    Guysssss I just got it and I am in LOVE!!! This phone is amazing! Now I just need to figure out how to Root and all that good stuff :D

    Congrats! Check to see what software version you have. If you have MS910ZVB you are ok to root. If it is MS910ZVC then you can't root yet. There are posts in here about One click root. That works great. Definitely remove the Metro bloatware that is on the phone when you root it. A good app for that is LG Esteem Optimizer if you don't want to remove them yourself. Thats cool that you are a girl and into electronic devices. You have a lucky boyfriend. :)

    Okay so I just checked and it says it's running MS910ZVB and I just found the one click root so I'm going to do that right now and let you all know how it goes. I am very into electronics haha..would much rather spend my money on sweet gadgets then designer handbags :p Geez I can't get over how awesome this phone is. My friend went ahead and threw in his cases for it but they don't feel very durable, is there another kind you would suggest I look into?

    I think I'm in love lol jk. It depends on what type of case you like. People on here have bought the trident case, which is kind of bulky. I bought a generic case made out of semi hard rubber. I like mine cause I don't want my phone to be too bulky. Good deals on cases on ebay. Most will say lg revolution which fits perfect on our phone. They are the same phone. You need to get root explorer as an app. Google it and or purchase it from the market. Fast Reboot Pro is a great app. Helps when your phone is running slow or lags. It refreshes your system without having to restart your phone. CacheMate is a great app to clean up space. Bomb that task is good as well as gemini app manager. Find amazon app store you get a free paid app everyday. Just sign up for an amazon account if your don't have one. Quick boot is a good app to restart your phone without having to turn it off then back on. It does it for you. Titanium backup is a good app as well. If you get the pro version you can freeze apps that you don't use that you don't want to delete. Zedge is great for free wallpapers, ringtones, and notification sounds. Finally Waze is a great gps navigation app. It gives you alternate routes when it detects traffic and can let you know when police are ahead so you can slow down. Much better than google maps.     Congrats! As far as cases every case Ive ever bought for a phoen I end up throwing out. Especially with the Esteem the cases, even the thin gel ones, make the phone feel too big and bulk. Thats just me tho. I rock no cases or screen protectors.

    I am super interested in getting that Waze app, does it speak the directions to you as well? It's hard for me to drive and keep glancing at my phone for directions so that would be a major plus. I'm also wondering if I should look into virus protection? I've come across a few apps for it in the app store but most don't have very good reviews. I guess I should make a separate thread for all my questions. :)

    Waze does speak the directions. It is a great app. You will like it. You can get virus protection if you want to. As long as you purchase apps from the market you are pretty safe and wouldn't really have to worry about getting a virus.

    update: still with out a phone and I have called probably every 3 days and every time I go in the employees ignore me and tell me that they dont know when my replacement will be in. If I knew that it was going to take this long I would have just tried to fix the phone myself

    ^ In my original post I said that I deleted one of the system apk's on accident and figured I would give a shot in trying to get a replacement. If I knew it was going to take this long I would have tried to fix it which I'm sure it wouldn't have been that hard.
    I have literally called the 800 number and they give me the same answer, that they can't access that information and that's when I speak to a supervisor. Also everytime I talk to them they say there aren't any notes in their system. So I have to go through the same BS every time. I finally called LG to see if they could give me any more information but that was a waste of time.
    I'm stuck with the samsung craft which is a sorry excuse for a smart phone. I think they are just waiting for me to throw this thing into a wall so I have to pay for it. I wish I knew someone that works for metro that could probably help because I feel like this corporate store is really screwing me over... sorry for the rant but its been 21 days since I gave them my phone to get replaced and it just doesn't add up...

    that sucks big time, demand to speak with a Manager instead of the counter workers and let them know about everything, and make sure they put a note on your account. but you can always try other method on here like installing cwm and flash one of the roms, or even flash the Stock rom.

    I already talked to the manager and she walked away from me last time during mid sentence. The regular employee was more helpful than the manager. I also wish I still had my phone but they were supposedly suppose to be sending it in so they have it. I'm going to try and go in there tomorrow and demand to see whats going on because 3 weeks is too long seeing how some of the members on here have had 2 replacements and haven't been waiting as long as I have... It sucks because I dont have a car until early Feb so its not like I can drive back and forth to their store and their number is only automated... I just filed a complaint through the fcc, bbb, and ftc though.

    Thanks alot buddy. I haven't received my rebate as well and that was sent out the day I got my phone which was late november. I talked to the highest manager today and he said that he could only file a complaint to the corporate store. Granted the staff were rude and haven't been helpful through this whole situation but all I want is a damn phone. This samsung craft is driving me insane.

    I believe the reason why the so call "no more Esteems" is because the LG Connect 4G coming out soon. So they do the usual: kill the selling of the Esteem,starve the users desire to own the Esteem and bring in the Connect and people wanting to buy the Esteem will jump ship to the Connect 4G

    No not a chance. Specs wise the Esteem is STILL the mack daddy on Metro even after both the Connect and Attain come.


    The Connect is basically a stripped smaller Esteem with a dual core and half a gig more of ram. The front facing camera was downgraded to a 0.3........yes 0.3mp VGA camera (Esteem- 1.3mp), it only has 4gb total internal (Esteem- 8gb) No HDMI output (well not listed), and a 4 inch screen (Esteem-4.3"). The dual core 1.2ghz processor and the gig of ram are the only thing nice about it.


    The Galaxy Attain? Pathetic to say the least. Single core 1ghz processor, 3.5-inch screen (The ASCEND was 3.5!), 3mp camera (The ASCEND had a 3.5mp!) and 512 ram.

    true but still how can you sell more? simple by getting rid of a popular phone by a new shiny one(even it if does less then the previous one but if it has improved radio and battery life then it will be a hit)
