    Welcome to AF! :)

Flash is quite intensive and is only really supported in Android 2.1 and above. What's the exact make and model of your phone?

    Welcome to Android Forums, Toby!

The Flash player is an app from Adobe that provides functionality, but it is not part of the Android System. Some manufacturers choose not to install it by default because having Flash enabled will degrade browser performance and require specific licensing from Adobe.

Or, as El Presidente suggested, the phone might not meet the minimum specifications to run Flash.
