Root Metropcs android update failed, not enough space to dowload

I just now got this message, says it needs 201mb, but my internal has more than 700mb open, since im rooted will it unroot my L70? Will it mess anything else up possibly?

Thanks in advance

Yes it will unroot you. In fact I don't even recommend installing it until we figure out what the changes are. Maybe someone will repackage it and add root since we have cwm.
Lge aren't really notorious for making phones unrootable but it could be an inconvenience.

I saw the same thing and I do not even know if it is possible to install it. I have 1.2GB free internal space and it still says no enough space to download. I have another MetroPCS L70 phone that I have not rooted or done anything. On that phone there is no system update.

The update downloads to the /cache partition, make sure that cleared even though i'm not sure why it wouldn't be..... cache only holds 1 or 2 file logs minimum.

well we need the update before we can get you the green light lol. downloading it wont auto install it, you have a choice after its finish downloading, now or later. I'll force it to my phone tomorrow, too busy right now.

My cache is 98% free with 290 MB. But I still cannot download the update. However my system is only 11% free with 173 MB, which is less than required 201 MB. I still do not understand why my new L70 does not see the update. Unless it was updated by itself. But I checked the version and Build number on the new L70 and saw nothing new.

I don't have the update. How do you get it to download? I haven't seen anything about an update.

Edit: after getting out and checking 3 other l70s, I realize my daily driver doesn't even have the option between system/app updates(weird). All 3 of the others (all on b) claim system is up to date.

Ok not sure why the download is not working, LG made the cache partition on this device only 295mb, in the past OTA has always been download to the cache partition so i'm not sure why, even with more than the requirement met, the OTA refuses to download. Lonestar aka "kenboyles72" even cleared his cache partition and had over 1 gig free on his data partition and it still wouldnt download for him. If you are eager to update, do it via the unbrick thread with the new 10C kdz file. Heres the link for the new 10C KDZ.

I'll have a flashable zip that will upgrade you from 10B on MS323 to 10C in a few days so stay tune for that.

Side note, because the cache partition is only 295mb, you can kiss android L goodbye lol cause im almost certain the OTA file will be bigger than what the cache partition can hold, that is if its downloading to cache partition. Idunno cause this phone is weird af and wont download ota with almost everything cleared.

I'll do what everyone's scared to do and flash the 10C kdz onto my phone via the unbrick method. I don't need root much other than to speed up my phone. I'll update when it's installed.

I decompiled the apk and it says that the download path is /.dwnld/selfupdate (which is on emulated SD)
And the server it downloads from is stg.lgcpm.com/oapi/dwn/

UPDATE: Installed the 10C update via the LG Flash Tool and there is absolutely no difference whatsoever. Haven't rooted yet but I'll update when I'm finished changing runtimes.

UPDATE 2: Towelroot NOT working. Do not install if you want to root.

Alrighty then im guessing this update screws with everything, and an update from metro wont even install because of lack of space. Soon as i can im getting a phone with more internal storage, this garbage is rediculous, $50 phone or not we shouldn't be jipped on space

Root is essential since this phone's intrernal storage is so small and we need the root to link apps to SD card. I am glad the update failed to download, otherwise I would install it in a heartbeat.

I have no problem with space. I've installed everything I could think of and still have more than 400mb without link2sd. I do use foldermount. Link2sd makes my system lag like hell but its smooth as flippin' butter without it. Not to mention boot times are better.

Well sh*t, With LG screwing this entire OTA not downloading crap & with no way to root by updating via flashtool, you should definitely all stay on 10B atleast those who require root should.
Since the towelroot exploit is patched in 10C and there being no other way to root right now, Our only hope is if someone can get the actual OTA on their device somehow and upload it here before flashing it.
The second way we can go about this is getting the .tot file for the 10C firmware so that i can extract it and root the system, but thats a long shot since no one has the .tot file at least that i know of, and sammyz has been M.I.A so i cant get in touch with him if knows or has access to that file.

As far as i can tell theres no noticeably changes done with this update so i will be continuing to work on my ROM based on the 10B source. If you want to disable the OTA notification follow these instructions [TIPS] Disable Nexus 7 OTA/Upgrade Nag - Post #1 - XDA Forums

The weird thing is my unrooted L70 never prompts the update and it is still on 10B. Does that mean this update is targeting the rooted phone only?

I am with metro and on 10b with root. I have been waiting for this update myself since I've heard about it. I live in Florida. Maybe ,just hasn't made its way here yet.

I'm curious.. How are these updates rolled out ??

I'm curious too. All my L70s were bought from MetroPCS. My understanding is they have the same hardware and software. How come one got the (failed) update, and another one did not?

Guys are these your first android phones? Or first one that ever got an OTA?? On Android, updates are rolled out to a certain percentage of phones first, then it expands to more and more until all the L70 eventually gets the update. If you need more detailed answers, Google is your best friend.
