Hi...1st I want to say thank you to everyone who has developed these custom ROMs. I just rooted my S3 with the paranoid, aokp, & cm ROM. I love it but my camera doesn't work with this ROM. The 1st time I rooted it I used the metropolis ROM & the camera worked fine. Is it because of Touchwiz?? Is there a way I can get the camera to work with the ROM I'm using now? I've tried using different camera apps from the play store but I keep getting the same message "cannot connect to camera".

Any and all help is greatly appreciated
    Jeremy

Try flashing a different aosp kernel and see if that fix the problem i had an issue like that and flashing another kernel fix it.

I'm somewhat new at this. I rooted my old Samsung Indulge (I didn't really care if I bricked that phone). Is flashing a different kernel like flashing a ROM? Also any suggestions on where to find a kernel that might work? Thank you...

Yes it's like flashing a rom except you don't need to wipe data or system. Just flash and wipe cache and fix permissions.

I tried flashing the kernel's but when I rebooted the phone is just stayed on the start up screen. I had to pull the battery and go back into recovery and flash the ROM I'm using. I saw that those kernels weren't for Metro PCs S3's. I don't know if that makes a difference or not. If anyone has used the ROM I'm using and was able to have their camera work or any other suggestions please chime in. The wife is on my a$$ about the camera not working :)...

Those kernels are for the us cellular s3 which is the same as ours i use those kernels whenever I'm on an aosp rom. U have to flash the right kernel one is 3.0 and the other is 3.4 if you are on the latest aosp rom u need the 3.4.

I tried using both but the camera still keeps saying "cannot connect to camera" I flashed a new ROM called Baked. I actually like this ROM better but I get the same message with the camera. The camera does work. I flashed the metropolis 1.4 ROM and the camera worked fine. Also is the a .tar file to flash back to stock? I've tried the ones I've found on here but on Odin they would fail.

I'm also running baked black bean rom and my camera works just fine i dont know what could be the problem. And yes the tar files are to get back to complete stock. Maybe a bad download?

Thanks for replying. I've tried a few different roms and the only one that my camera has worked on is the metropolis 1.4 ROM. With that ROM my phones rooted but its just like its still stock. There has to be a way to get the camera to work on this ROM. (I hope) Has anyone else had this problem on this or any other ROMs?

My camera has worked on every Rom I believe. Currently running illusion 1.0 even though it's not the newest.

Well I finally got the camera to work. I ended up downloading the black bean 9 ROM and the 4.2.2 gapps that was for it. Then I wiped everything and flashed BB9 & then the gapps, then wiped the dalvik cache and rebooted. Bingo... not only is the camera working but I'm now running android 4.2.2 instead of 4.2.1...anyways I want to thank everyone for their help with this. Without you guys I'd still be going at it and have a angry wife lol
