Thanks for the upload. I already had Pressy Pie's CWM Recovery installed. I didn't think it was an issue to install another recovery on top of my existing one, so I went ahead.

While the recovery did install, I couldn't boot into my phone. I tried all the options in the reboot menu, and none of them would boot into android. The option to reboot into recovery brought me back to CWM recovery, and from there I still couldn't boot into android. I would have been shit out of luck if I didn't already have a CWM nandroid. So I restored the backed up boot partition via advanced restore.

So I'm guessing if I want TWRP recovery installed without issue, I must uninstall previous recovery. Any advice as to how I can go about doing this?

that was my fault, I am sorry about that

I put an updated zip in the OP that fixes the issues

I am glad you fixed it

I made a mistake in the install script and it flashed to the boot partition

the new zip flashes to the recovery partition

    once again sorry about that

Thanks for your help and quick reply. I hope this recovery works better than the pressy pie cwm version. I've been having trouble with my backups not playing well with SD card hack and link2sd. Any indication that this recovery is any better?

Just to clarify before I begin, can I install your recovery on top of previous CWM recovery without any issues?

yes, like I said the problem you had before was from a mistake I made, and I have corrected it and uploaded a new file

just make sure you download the new file

    f6_twrpa

    the old files was f6_twrp.zip

the new one has an a at the end

    f6_twrpa.zip

I'm trying to flash it but it won't let me.
    Says
E: [-] Failed to mmap aboot.
E: Error loki-ifying the boot image.

    EDIT:
Oops nevermind had to toggle LOKI support. Should've done that first
Works great! I'm glad we have more devs working on this phone.

I just did a 'full' backup and recovery (minus ext SD card data and ext4 partition). So far it seems to be working well. Previously, while trying to make a 'full' nandroid backup using pressy pie's cwm recovery, system partition did not backup.

From what I can tell so far, TWRP recovery backs up and restores much quicker than CWM..about 4-5 times faster!

p.s. after creating backup, it took 3-5 mins for the backup to show up in restore menu. Not sure why it takes so long, but something to keep in mind, so have a little patience before panicking.

Just a small request to you and any dev, can you please upload some sort of MD5 sum/SHA when uploading any file? It helps when there's an issue when installing. Thanks for your work!

I give all you great devs alot credit it not easy and time consuming, but once mastered it awesome knowledge to learn!!!! I hope I'm able to help soon to give back, for everything all you awesome devs gave us!!!! Is it possible for you to port any other recoveries to have some more choices? That's if you have enough spare time to do it? Thank you again for everything!!!

Just flashed your recovery from op and all seems well. Is there a way to get to my previous cwm backups with twrp? Also, does flashing twrp remove cwm?

There seems to be no way of booting into recovery using hardware buttons from power off. I tried rocking the volume button, power button volume down combo, power button volume up combo to no avail. Power button volume up combo brings up the stock reset menu, and confirmation resets the phone back to stock. (Previously with Pressy Pie's CWM recovery, confirmation of stock reset resulted in booting into recovery and avoiding reset.) Luckily I was able to boot into recovery using Quick Boot app from stock reset. (Root was kept). From there I restored nandroid. Initially, when I tried doing the full restore I was met with error message that data partition wasn't mounted, even though I made sure it was already mounted. So I rebooted back into recovery from Quick Boot App and the second time I tried doing a full restore I was still met with same data partition mount error. I was finally able to complete restore by selecting only the data partition to restore. (The other partitions restored the first time.)

Is there any way to boot into recovery using hardware buttons when the phone is powered off? This is a MAJOR ISSUE!!

I simply copied my CWM backup to the TWRP folder and it now shows up in TWRP. Now for my noob question, will TWRP restore a backup made with CWM? Or are the files/processes completely different.

    Thanks,

    yes when powered down

hold volume down and power, until you get the reset message

    then press power

it will go into twrp, but data partition will be corrupted and need to be formatted in TWRP

this also happens on cwm (kind of)

it is a function of the bootloader (aboot) and has nothing to do with the version of the recovery your are using

Pressy recovery probably avoiding wiping the data if you were using sd hack
