Hi. I'm trying to run a recovery on my phone. There's a complete lack of usable instructions that I've been able to find on how to do this. I tried using CWM Recovery:

http://androidforums.com/threads/metropcs-recovery-loki-cwm-v6-0-4-6.820352/

To reset my device using this ROM:

http://androidforums.com/threads/metropcs-base-deodexed-dump-12b-test.822495/

But the recovery tool doesn't seem to really do anything. I pressed "INSTALL CWM" but it doesn't really seem to do anything. No new apps on my phone to run a recovery and no options to do so.

I tried again using CWM Backup Manager (ROOT):

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.free.dennisg.cwmbackup&hl=en

With the ROM zip file in the CWM Backup folder. The manager crashed and nothign happened after a reboot.

How do I reset my phone? I'm missing some key providers and none of these tools have any documentation for how to use them. Can some give me an explicit set of instructions on how to do this?

Have you been able to fix your phone?
If not please let me know the cuurent status, (i.e. rooted or not rooted, custom recovery installed or not). There are a couple of ways to fix your phone depending on what you want your phone to be (i.e. stock or running a custom rom). Either way i can help you get there.[emoji41]

Ok, I'm going to help you get your phone running this "BASE" rom without any issues because you posted that this forum lacks complete usable instructions while pointing to the instructions given in this forum.

So here is what I know about your phone: You rooted your phone using ___ method, im assuming you are still on a stock rom maybe not. Your issue is that you deleted your Calendar Provider.apk so you want to flash this "base" rom to fix it.

I already suggested that you restore your phone using the lg flash tool but instead you wanted us to point to the complete guide rather than you just typing it into google and searching for yourself so I have posted a link for that.

Now assuming you haven't used my suggestion and you are still sitting with a phone in the exact same condition as it was when you started this thread (rooted but no CP.apk) we need to jump to applying a custom recovery. Now there are two types of recovery 1) CWM and 2) TWRP. Either one will work but i prefer CWM so i will be using that one in this discussion. There are two ways to get CWM working properly on the f6. 1) pressYforpie's f6 Utility's app and 2) lte2 recovery app. I prefer pressYforpie's version because it is more stable and you can boot into it if your phone boot loops or you cant boot into your phone at all.

This is your CWM app:
http://androidforums.com/threads/metropcs-recovery-loki-cwm-v6-0-4-6.820352/
Works with either tmobile or metro pcs.

And here is the all things root guide for metro:
http://androidforums.com/threads/metropcs-lg-optimus-f6-metropcs-all-things-root-guide.776319/

And for tmobile:
http://androidforums.com/threads/tmobile-lg-optimus-f6-tmobile-all-things-root-section.776317/

Now once you can successfully boot into recovery mode from the app and you have applied it you will need a copy of you rom placed into your external sd card, preferably the root of the card so you don't have to go digging through folders looking for it.

WHILE IN RECOVERY MODE, if you had your phone restored using the lg flash tool and the .kdz file, this would be the time to create a backup of an original rom of your working phone. Make sure you save it in your external sd so you don't wipe it out when applying new rom. Now navigate to wipe cache partition using the volume down key and when it's highlighted press the power key to confirm, next scroll down to advanced and select wipe dalvik cache, and finally select go back and click wipe data/ factory reset to prepare for new rom install. When you are done wiping go to install zip, choose zip from external sd and locate your base rom and select it. For a first time rom install it may take several minutes to completely boot into the rom so don't freak out it's normal just be patient. If it takes hours then you may have a problem.

Note: if all else fails you still have the lg flash tool to go back to the original un-rooted "out-of-the-box" state.

Don't panic if any of the links are dead just search for it in google and you will find what you need.
Remember, Google is our friend! LMAO!

Good luck, I hope this helps.
