MHL HDMI adapter problem

I have a Samsung S4 and when I use this lead to send the phone screen to the TV it works but I have another wonderful Chinese phone called a Timmy T1which runs Android 4.2.3 and it doesn't show on the tv ,I get the charging battery on the phone screen but when I run the local VOD tv I get nothing
Is there anything I can do ? the phone is rooted by the way and has an MTK6589T cpu
