I need to make a purchase 4-6 cable of different lengths but I'm waiting for them to get more of the 3 ft. ones without the Ferrite core. That way they don't have that bulky bead. Just cable and connections.

does the ferrite make the cable any better?

Ferrite core and gold plated cables usually decrease interference and noise which can interrupt flow. With such short cables though I wouldn't worry too much about noise. This comes from my knowledge of audio video cables. I'm assuming this is correct with data cables too.

does the ferrite help regulate voltage into the usb?

Ferrite doesn't regulate the data or voltage going through the cable it's just a way of shielding the cable from high frequency interference.

My cables from monoprice arrived yesterday. I got various lengths for different locations a mixture with and without ferrite core. Tried both types and both work fine. Monoprice is usually pretty reliable for cables.

Just a thought, the cable that comes with the EVO does not have a ferrite bead attached so the regular ones that monoprice sells should be fine.

I believe they only have the mini HDMI (type C connector), and this is the wrong cable. The EVO uses a micro HDMI (type D).

Which is the car adaptor one you ordered? I had a cheap, generic one once for an old iPod nano and the thing crapped out on me and almost overheated it, so I was looking for something that would be safer for my EVO as it's a lot more valuable!

FYI- you can get an OEM sprint car charger for less than $5 shipped, new on ebay. Search for a Palm Pre car charger. I just picked up 2 last week. You could probably search any phone that uses a micro USB port, but I noticed the Pres were pretty cheap.

Edit- I guess I should clarify, that they claim "new" but are considered bulk (whatever that means).. They dont come with packaging, but both of mine work and look new, so thats all I care about.

True. The mini is the wrong one. I came back to correct my post and saw your response.
