1. Are you ready for the Galaxy S20? Here is everything we know so far!

Might be a stupid question, but can I play a HVGA/QVGA game on a WVGA+ screen?

Um, so basically I got an xperia play, and it's fine for games such as dead space and what not but GTA3 is at times a bit laggy. I was thinking in PC terms that if I downgrade the resolution, I should get smoother performance, no?

So is it possible to run say the HVGA (480*320) version of the game instead of the WVGA (800*480/NATIVE Xperia PLAY)? How...?

The app determines that at runtime. AFAIK, there isn't really a way to force resolutions like you can on a PC. However, in GTA III, there should be an option for the screen resolution which will change the resolution that the 3D graphics are rendered.

Depending on which GPU it uses, running a lower resolution may not really help. It only helps if the bottleneck is pixel processing. Game can be slow for many reasons such as memory bandwidth, bus, Vertex processing, CPU etc.
