Handtec updated the status on their website today to:
About right since CPW pretty much saying its coming out then.
Find it rather amusing actually..I would laugh if I got mine before then though..Credit would then go to mobile phones direct
mpd now have on their main page for the hd please allow 28 days for delivery
i havent been told of any delay in my order will have to ring them
, I'll still hold out hope for a quick delivery from them.
When I ordered my N900 from them, it stated 28 days but then got it inside a week, so im assuming its as and when the stock comes in.
But saying that, I'm not in any mad rush, my Hero is serving me well enough.
no worries spencer that sounds good
im just talking to them so will update
well they jsut said there could be a delay they wont know for another 48 hours then will email everyone who has placed an order
in other words they have no idea
I've just been on the phone and spoke with one of the store managers who confirmed as far as he is aware the Desire HD IS UNBRANDED SIM FREE
..Going to on an online chat with them to confirm
They also state that the delivery timescale is guideline only and still hope to despatch within 10 days.
Also stock is limited and is sent on first come first serve basis.
Hope this helps all
thanks spencer looks like some people know more than others unless theyre jsut trying to fob us off-theyre delivery guidline is 28 days now
Apologies for the mini hijack of the post, but got it also confirmed online via chat as well from MPD

Hello Spencer. My name is Phil how can I help you?
Hi Phil..Desire HD..Is it unbranded/sim free?..and 2..I recently ordered it from you and I've seen the delivery go from up to 10 days to up to 28days..is there any specific timescale?
I can confirm the handset is unbranded, and we are still looking to despatch within the next 10 days.
Thanks for answering them..Is stock based on first come first serve basis?..my order ref is xxxxxx..Is everything progressing ok with it?
Everything is going through fine and we will be despatching on a first come first served basis.
Epic win!..with my order, I also enclosed a PAC code..With the phone being on pre-order so to speak, when will this PAC code be used..just so i get a rough idea when the number will be transferred
We will use the PAC once we have despatched the phone to you so your number will transfer over once the handset is received.
Ok thats great
thanks very much
You are welcome, have a good day.
Yes I used the term Epic Win..I'm at work so i'm allowed to haha
lol spencer thanks
wish id got someone as helpful they didnt seem to know wot was going on yet with it
Like I said before, it will be delayed, not enjoying this, any new updates, ill let you know.
Like I said before, your refusal to attribute your updates makes them worthless.
No need for that, I'm just passing on info as I get it, I got told about the delay, and its looking like its happening, I will be getting this phone as soon as they arrive, so that's how I know.
Colrey, not trying to sound mean or anything, but it feels like you are just plucking out dates and guessing because both of the above was provided with no actual source and when a source did come out, you wasn't close to the date.
Unless you plan on flying out to Taiwan, I don't think you will get it any quicker than any other member or will be owner out there.
All we are saying, is if you are going to put something out there like a date, its not really valid without something to back it up with..the art of reporting.
@SpencerUK, thanks for your effort here I just want to make sure If this UNBRANDED SIM FREE means that I can use it anywhere in Europe without carrier limitation and simluck right?,
If so the below rumors are fake then?
HTC Desire HD unlocked sales delayed until late-October | Android Community
@eozen81: yes, it does mean that. Unlocked SIM Free is simply a phone not from a telecom company, but bought in a shop without any sort of contract with a telecom. This is how i bought my Moto Milestone EU from Expansys.
@faugusztin, thanks for your reply.
I am asking because I am in Turkey and nor HTC Desire or Desire HD is being sold/going to be sold in Turkey, therefore I am planning to buy it from my Hong Kong visit in November.
So I need to ask the seller (also let him confirm) If the phone is exactly unlocked/sim free/unbranded, does these 3 seperate definitons are same? Or should I pay attention only for some of them?
I can only go what I was told via my call to MobilePhonesDirect and via the online transcript above.
I've yet to have an official response from HTC.
Sim free/unlocked = without contract, not locked to a telecom company
Unbranded = No software from the telecom operator or custom stuff (like orange boot up logos for example!..or vodafones 360 crap)
You are in Hong Kong in November!!
So am I haha..I depart from Heathrow on 04/11/2010
@spencer, dude what a chance My visit will be towards end of November, If I can arrange.
From your explanations, I need to make sure to buy a unbranded/simfree or unbranded/unlock phone Thanks pal.
5th november while 10th november..go between there, i'd have a drink with you haha.
As a rough idea of the price in hong kong for the handset, its generally minus the VAT of the price what its in the UK, so basically
Carphone warehouse is down for maintenance... Desire HD release please
im jealous of u all going to hong kong can i sneak into your bag lol
i hope it is released soon as spencer says any news from mpd i will update
I just got this from a HTC advance certified seller :
I wanted to inform you that HTC are pushing back
all UK Sim free stock of the desire HD due to a
possible exclusivity period with a UK network.
This will affect all UK resellers. Network
locked handsets may appear on the market but these
will be branded and not Sim free. Unlock codes
will be almost impossible to obtain in the first
instance. If you are still hoping to have a Sim
free handset then I suggest you hold fire until
the official release date. I am happy to offer a
full refund and reverse the auction if you
require. However I still believe that I will have
stock sooner than some other suppliers. I would
hazard a guess and say that stock will arrive in
the next 15 days.
Does this sound right?
