Mini-USB for Incredible and.....

Okay, maybe this is a total newbie question but it needs to be asked. I have several mini-USB power adapters and a couple auto car adapters for my old LG Dare phone from Verizon. The AC adapters are all the kind with the unit that plugs in the wall with a USB to mini-USB cable. The LG Dare uses the same mini-USB plug as the Incredible.

I just upgraded to the HTC Incredible (love it!) and was wondering, since the LG Dare input for power and data was the same mini-USB plug, can the adapters I had for my LG Dare work for my Incredible???? Didn't know if the mini-USB was a standard for power supply or if there were different input/output voltages or something that might make them not work.

Thought I'd ask before I go plugging this in to see if I get a smoke test...

    Thanks :D

Check the output voltage and current of both chargers. They should be listed somewhere on the chargers. If they are the same then I think you are fairly safe, the only thing that could differ at that point is the waveform of the signal, but I'm pretty sure its just DC anyway. If either is different then I wouldn't risk it.

I bought a bunch of mini-micro converters. Works for charging for house chargers and on the pc to charge.

Doesn't work on the PC to transfer data, and doesn't work with the car chargers.

    Not sure why.

    OUTPUT
    HTC AC adapter - 5V - 1A
    LG AC adapter - 5.1V - .7A
Car chargers - nothing listed (Verizon chargers both look identical)

The LG may work, the .1V isn't too significant an increase (2%). The .7A means it will take 42% longer to charge the phone with the LG.

    But it will work.

Verizon will tell you that you can use any charger, but please use only HTC Brand products for your HTC phones to ensure that you get the most out of your battery.

    Thank you!

Cause 5V @ 1A from any other QUALITY charger will set the freaking phone on fire.

    Don't say I didn't warn you guys!

After your house burns down, Mr. T will come to your smoldering remains, and kick you in the junk.

Aren't tech support reps BANNED from being on forums? Don't they have corporate people on forums all day just LOOKING for reps posting stuff like that? I'd be calling in sick for the next couple days if I were you, and delete that post, before you lose your job over it..

(If you are even a rep, that is)

Where can we buy a spare HTC wall charger? I can't find them anywhere...

I had the Dare and I'm doing exactly what you're asking about. It works fine but the wall charger is a lot slower than the HTC branded one. As others have said the LG doesn't match the output of the HTC.

BTW, both the Dare and the Incredible use Micro USB. Mini usb is larger and was used commonly until a few years ago.

My supervisor does not mind as long as I give a fake last name. Actually he is all for it.

Do you have a p/n? I don't see any specs on Amazon to confirm the proper output and can't find the correct one.
