On a fresh install of 2.2, I was copying images and music back onto the Cappy though the USB port when some strange error came up. I dont even remember what it was.

Then Win7 wouldn't allow me to copy any files onto the Captivate. I did several windows scans and recovery of bad sector things like it suggested. Not a lot changed. Eventually, for who knows why, it allowed me again.

But now I have this huge gap of space missing.

Of the 13 gigs that I should have, 1.43 GB is left. I can only account for 1GB being used by my files!! No hidden files exist.

Any ideas of whats going on and how I can fix it besides formatting it?

As there is an overwhelming response, i thought i'd lookylooky for answers at another board.
I'm not the only one and there are others with far worse issues and far more experience with this:

Internal SD card failing after 2.2 Rogers update? - xda-developers

Problem solved. Rogers claims there will be another firmware (ETA is apparently now) or they just might send you a new phone as a few in this thread have claimed.
