missing symbols

[Android Question]

hi I've just updated to 4.3 jelly bean on my galaxy s3. when I'm on an app and need to put a full stop or a dot in the key pad has no option to place a decimal point in. was working ok before the up date. any suggestions

Sym puts you in the symbols. 1/2 switches to the other symbols page. That one threw me too.
